There are those destined to protect and serve others and our nation. This is the true story of one such man-a Green Beret veteran who later served as a special agent for the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service. In two distinguished careers spanning more than 30 years, Nick Green epitomizes America's citizen soldier-among the very best of our nation's public servants. His life experiences remind us what it means to be a patriot. His book, Ripples, tells Nick's exciting story and life in a straightforward, no-nonsense manner from his childhood to the present. His Midwestern upbringing by a strong-willed father and loving mother taught him early-on about basic values such as self respect and the need to respect others, and taking responsibility for one's own actions-about honor, perseverance and commitment. Each of the book's chapters represents different ripples in his life. His biography highlights his early military service and his time with the U.S. Special Forces as a Green Beret in Central America during troubled times. He also tells about his military tours that included command assignments to Fort Leavenworth, as an associate professor of military science at the University of Wisconsin and two stints with the army's Military Police in South Korea. After retiring from the military, Nick continued to serve his Uncle Sam as a special agent with the U.S. Department of State where he protected foreign dignitaries, conducted criminal investigations and served abroad in El Salvador Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Senior domestic assignments in the Diplomatic Security Service followed later as Chief of the Marine Security Guard Program and as the division head for Emergency Action Plans. Ripples isn't intended to be a tribute or testament to himself. Rather, it's dedicated to the men and women who've faithfully served their country-especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation.
