A new edition, the 10th, was released December 7th, 2008 in North America, and will be released January 2nd, 2009 in the United Kingdom. This 352-page book brings the collector current to 2009. The 9th edition was published three years ago, it was time for a revision as the market has changed completely. As you know, starting with the 9th edition in 2005, we divided Royal Doulton Beswick Storybook Figurines into two books, based on the brands: Royal Doulton and Beswick. Our simple reasoning for this division was the sale of the Beswick brand by Royal Doulton. Beswick Collectables is a compilation of all storybook, cartoon and film characters produced by the John Beswick Studio. Here the collector will find a lineup of characters from many charming and whimsical series such as Alice in Wonderland, Beatrix Potter, Paddington Bear and many Disney films and cartoons. Also, there are the creatures from David Hand s Animaland, English Country Folk, Hippos on Holiday and the Footballing Felines. Along with the traditional storybook series readers are now able to explore figures from Animal Fun, Monkey Band, Penguin Family, Bush Babies, Cats Chorus, Kitty McBride s Happy Mice, and much, much more. The Beswick figurines removed from Royal Doulton Beswick Figurines, 6th edition, and the Beswick character and toby jugs removed from the 5th edition of Royal Doulton Beswick Jugs, have found a new home in Beswick Collectables. The introduction to Beatrix Potter Figurines by Frank Corley has been revised, with all tables in a clear, user friendly format. The Beatrix Potter figurines are showing a rebound from the 9th edition, prices are steady to higher. Thirty-two colour pages, in four eight-page sections are disbursed throughout the book. The first two sections are devoted to the figures of Beatrix Potter. The third section is devoted to the early rarely seen figures produced by the John Beswick Studio, plus Beswick Hummels, Dickens Ware, and Character and Toby Jugs. The fourth section includes storybook characters such as Winnie the Pooh, Rupert and His Friends, and Disney Cartoon and Film Characters. The pricing which is in four currencies (UK pounds sterling, United States, Canadian and Australian dollars) has been completely revised and updated to reflect the market conditions of 2009. Beswick Collectables is an informative and valuable reference tool with which the Beswick collector may assemble a rewarding collection.

The 10th edition of Royal Doulton Jugs by Jean Dale will be released in North America on May 12th, 2008, and in the United Kingdom two weeks later on May 28th, 2008.
 After tracking the prices of Royal Doulton jugs for the past six months, using dealers websites, land and internet auctions, it became obvious that the jug market was alive and well. The downward trend in prices has stopped, certainly there are moments, especially on internet auction sites where bargains appear, but overall prices are steady to slightly higher. Although it is doubtful we will see the glory days of the late 1990s and early 2000s again, we should expect a modest rise in prices over the next year or two. All bodes well for Royal Doulton Jug market.
 The 10th edition is down 10% in page count from the 9th edition as we tightened up the book, while adding 26 new issues. Since our costs are in Canadian dollars, the strength of the Canadian dollar has resulted in our having to adjust the cover price in the different markets.
 New to the 10th edition are three new series: First World War Military Leaders, six in the series, limited to 100 jugs each; Myths, Legends and Fantasies, four in the series, limited to 250 jugs each; and U.S. World Wars, four in the series, limited to 350 jugs each. The character jug General MacArthur has been added to the Great General Series, and the Character Jug of the Year for 2007 and 2008 were Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles respectively, limited to their year of issue. The complimentary International Collectors Club jug for 2007 was the North Staffordshire Fife Player and for 2008 the Nurse.
 New images, information and colour variations have been added to Harry Simeon s Best Is Not Too Good variety of stoneware jugs and derivatives.
 The addition of 26 new jugs by Royal Doulton in a two-year period certainly does not stretch the pocket book, which makes for a better outlook for the future.

The fourth edition of Canadian Coins, Volume 2, Collector and Maple Leaf Issues will be released May 31st, 2013, at the Toronto Coin Expo which will be held at the Toronto Reference Library. The new 464-page fourth edition is current to March 2013, with all new Mint issues. This 4-colour catalogue tracks all Mint and maple leaf issues from 1954 to the current releases.
 A 16% increase in the page count from 400 in the third edition to 464 in the fourth was necessary to keep up with the more than 150 new issue (2012 and 2013) coins released by the Royal Canadian Mint. In keeping with the new issues over 150 full colour images have been added in the fourth edition.
 All prices, specifications, designers and engravers information has been updated, affording the collector the opportunity to keep fully abreast of the current trend in NCLT and maple leaf issues.
 A new series $20 for $20 was introduced in 2011. The Five Maple Leaves was the first in this series of pure silver coins. The ninth coin in the series The Wolf was released in March 2013.
 The first 1½oz pure silver coin (The Polar Bear) was released in 2013, possibly opening the way for a new series of bullion coins based on our Proud Polar Bear.
 Five new issues have been added to the silver kilo coin series, bringing the total to 15 coins. These coins have a face value of $250, and contain over 32 troy ounces of fine silver.
 More and more proof sets, 1997-2011, are being broken up and the coins sold singly. From 1996 the 5-, 10-, 25-, and 50-cent coins were struck on sterling silver planchets. Pricing tables have been established for the 5-cent through 50-cent proof sterling silver coins. Previously, they were listed in Volume One pricing tables, but due to their different composition (neither nickel nor multiply plated steel) they are distinct varieties in their own right and should not be grouped with CLT coinage.
 A new section has been introduced on the Commemorative Canadian Coin, Token, or Medal Sets sold at the major coins shows held in Germany, Canada, the USA, and China. These sets are interesting from the standpoint that they contain a special medallion domiciled to the coin show at which they were introduced.
 The fourth edition is a definite must for the collector tracking mint and bullion issues.

The pricing panel once again report a soft market, but there has been a noticeable strengthening of demand for popular, low cost, entry level notes, which can only bode well for the hobby. Pricing changes mainly reflect fine tuning rather than broad trends. That said, it is true that price increases outnumber decreases by a substantial margin. Rare and popular notes continue to shine, as they would in almost any market, as demonstrated by recent sales of a Province of Canada $10, a 1924 Queen Mary $5 and a 1986 $5 GOG0 test note on Luminus substrate, all at prices north of $20,000. The error note section at the back of the book has seen some rather sharp upward revisions as a result of the sale of the Tom Merritt collection in 2012. Recent very strong sales of Newfoundland cash notes, 1901 - 1909, are reflected in significantly higher prices for most, particularly in VF grade. Depression scrip continues to trend higher, by modest increments, and most of the Specimen notes continue to gain ground. Premiums for Gem Uncirculated Dominion notes are, generally speaking, considerably higher than previously. On the negative side, most 1986 $2 notes from the first signature changeover period remain too plentiful to support even their reduced valuations, and have therefore been subjected to further cuts. Pricing has been tied to Canadian grading practices, as described in the front of the catalogue, which should help clear up confusion resulting from the prevalence of notes of the market which have been graded by incompatible standards. In addition to the annual updating of prefixes and census data, a few more images are now in colour. There is a new 1971 $10 replacement range, and new listings for Prince Edward Island treasury notes have been added. A brief reference explains Province of Canada bond proofs from the American Bank Note Co. Archives Sale, as we get so many questions about them. The 26th Edition of the Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Government Paper Money will be available at the RCNA Convention, Winnipeg, in July.
