The book is not so much a record of a physical landscape but of an emotional one. In documenting his travels through the snow, the wilderness and the archaic landscapes, the photographer reveals that this is a journey to the basic questions of our existence.

The first book release by young Swiss photographer Peter Hauser shows his straightforward, analog black and white pictures of nature and urban landscapes that yield a distinctive observation of perceptual phenomena: rectangles float; shadows fall into hard-edge shapes; surfaces reveal patterns and unlikely grids. Photographer Edward Weston drew a distinction between making pictures to learn about the world and those that impose a vision upon it. It was his intention to make pictures, he once said, not as an interpretation, a biased opinion of what nature should be, but a revelation  an absolute, impersonal recognition of the significance of facts.. Peter Hauser's work is subscribing to this mantra.

Matt Eich is a photographer born and based in Virginia. His work centres on long-form photographic essays about the American Condition, and this, his first book, portrays just a single microcosm of a story familiar to many similar communities throughout the United States. The series portrays the lives of residents in various Ohio towns, like Carbondale and Mineral. Once booming coal mining communities, these places now reflect the desolate shadow of Appalachian poverty, their people hopeless and without a future, left with nothing but their cultural identity in the aftermath of extractive industry. The book includes an afterword by Eich, plus an insert with two essays.

A standout among post-war Swiss photographers, René Groeblis work has spanned many subjects and genres, from zoology, architecture, and landscape, to portrait, documentary, and the nude. After having given up commercial photography, he moved to Southern France in 1979 and set up his studio in an old farmhouse. The nudes in this book are drawn from various points in his career, beginning in the 1950s, developing through the 70s and 80s, and reaching their culmination in the year 2001, which Groebli himself describes as most productive. No matter the era, his sensual, black-and-white images nevertheless appear timeless. With a text by Daniel Blochwitz.

Today we can look back at his images with a more objective feeling, finding not the sensationalism, danger, and voyeurism proclaimed by the media at the time, but rather the fascination of this young European newcomer to the Big Apple with its people, neon lights, movement, and relentless energy. Captured on Kodachrome slide film, Spillers visions of the citys sordid underground transportation system fall right in line with other pioneers who first documented New York in colour.

In 1958, Zürich photographer Karlheinz Weinberger first captured the likeness of Halbstarke (rebel) Jimmy Oechslin, an artistic moment which marks the genesis of this collection of images focused on young Swiss teenagers. That particular photographic encounter triggered Weinbergers life-long fascination with outsiders and nonconformists in the otherwise staid environment of Switzerland. The photographs presented in this first of several volumes about his work offer a rare glimpse into a bygone world that seems almost cute and quaint from a contemporary perspective, but make no mistake: just dressing in jeans and hanging chains around ones neck was a statement as loud as blasting music by Buddy Holly on a quiet Swiss Sunday afternoon.

Luis uses his camera as a means of self expression and exploration. His first monograph covers a wide spectrum of sectors from fashion to music, sports, celebrities, beauty, landscape and film.
