Chromatic displays of the human form bathed in emotional landscapes of dark shadow and startling fields of filtered light define the paintings of artist Peter O'Neill. O'Neill exhibits a fondness for the contemplative female in unexpected and enigmatic poses and views of intimate situations with bathers, sleepers, and those who are lost in a poignant moment of reflection. As an observer, O'Neill watches his models and their natural movements so that his paintings do not look staged or photographic. "The work comes from everyday life," he says. He begins by talking to his models about their lives, and then he relates their stories in oil. 
Though O'Neill's work is consistent in style, his subject matter varies widely, from figure studies, to beach scenes and fields of flowers, to ballet dancers and exotic masks, to portrayals of his travels to Italy. By combining the subject matter with his rich surface textures, he captures the ephemeral moments of life.

In his stunning series, La Tumba de la Reina Roja: From Reality to Abstraction, Mexican painter Ricardo Mazal expresses the profound sensations he experienced while visiting the Tomb of the Red Queen, a recently discovered burial site dating to about 600 AD at Palenque, the ancient Maya ceremonial city. Mazal began this body of work by extensively photographing the site's temples, stones, and surrounding landscape. Linda J Ging, born in 1941 in Hutchinson, Kansas, is an American transcendentalist who has worked in quiet obscurity for nearly thirty years. Her paintings, rooted in the immense spaces and changing skies of rural Kansas, are not landscapes. They are not about things. They are dust, astral dust. 
Linda Ging rigorously eradicates all suggestions of place, material existence, and especially her own presence. She brushes on color washes in scores of translucent layers with a touch so light as to seem uncanny. She never arrives at opacity. Some suspect the use of an airbrush. The suggestion is as preposterous to her as using the wings of insects.
Her mature work pushes abstraction beyond Abstract Expressionism's cult of personality, beyond the geometry of Rothko's shimmering squares. Tom Kirby's art interest began at a young age, first by emulating his father, a second generation Abstract Expressionist painter. Kirby draws inspiration for his work from extensive travels throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, and North Africa. His work is distinctly modern yet deeply influenced by past masters, most importantly, Caravaggio, and is a synthesis of expressionistic and minimalist influences.Since the late 1980s, Kirby has exhibited his work nationally and his art can be found in private collections worldwide. He received his B.F.A. in painting from the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico in 1989, and later taught printmaking in the college's art department.
