Armageddon Now!: The Premillenarian Response to Russia and Israel Since 1917

On May 14, 1948, the state of Israel became a legal reality. Friday the 13th, 1988, marked the 40th anniversary of the final day of non-Jewish rule in Palestine. That should have led to either Armageddon or the Rapture, according to numerous proponents of dispensational premillennialism. Nothing happened. Forty years is an intriguing number of years, biblically speaking. It marks one biblical generation. It was this figure of 40 years that had led some dispensational leaders in the late 1970s to forecast the Rapture in 1981: 40 years minus the seven years of Israel's Great Tribulation, when the Church will be in heaven, according to pre-tribulational dispensationalism. But the Rapture did not take place in 1981 either. Had the forecasters paid more attention to Dr. Dwight Wilson's 1977 book, Armageddon Now!, they might have avoided their subsequent series of embarrassments. Tracking has been around since the dawn of man. It’s something that I feel is natural and instinctual within the human species. Our ability to reason, problem solve, learn, and adapt has given us the ability to progress, to modernize, and to become civilized. Now the hunt is at the local super market with meat wrapped and processed, vegetables no longer in the ground, and processed food in boxes. However some cultures still hunt. Some tribes still live the old ways. They are few, and their knowledge is fading. I wanted to share some stories about my life. I’m an ordinary person, struggling with my imperfections, flaws, and shortcomings as a human being trying to hold down a job, live in the city and still maintain a wild heart. Tracking gave me life, a connection to the Earth, and it has given my life a purpose and meaning. This book has tracking stories, life lessons, and my heart put into it. I hope you enjoy it. My personal approach to tracking is more of a holistic approach. I think tracking humans makes my wildlife tracking better and tracking wildlife makes my man tracking better. To me, it’s just tracking. It’s a tool. It’s only a small part of the hunt. Only one skill needed to live with the Earth. Tracking is bigger than one lifetime. To understand and interpret the story on the ground is almost a lost art.

Financialization, Austerity, and Inclusion in Latin America and the Caribbean examines the spread of financialization since 1980, highlighting the ideational origins of financialization outside the region, its effects on government budgeting and social inclusion, and options for increased inclusivity. Rana S. Gautam, Diogo L. Pinheiro, and Dwight Wilson argue that rather than a mechanistic implementation of external pressures, financialization is a complex social process with ideational origins in which national-level actors participate. Ultimately, the authors find that deeper financial integration, the expansion of credit, and reliance on international bond market drives governments to cut certain areas of social spending and drives inequality but ameliorates absolute poverty. There is, therefore, space for agents to mold financialization and its inclusiveness.
