Wickner (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda) summarizes the study of the lethal infectious neurological diseases in sheep, kuru, and man, presenting newer evidence that the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae harbors infectious elements also transmitted by a protein (prion).
