Jesus is represented by Sir Lionel Luckhoo, who holds the world record for most successive acquittals, while Clarence Darrow seeks to prove Jesus' guilt. During the trial, a variety of witnesses, including Freud, Darwin, and Mary, the mother of Jesus, are called to the stand to testify, and the verdict comes as a great surprise to the court. While many will find the novel intriguing, the apologetic tone of the narrative and the poorly drawn, stereotypical characters make for tedious reading. A marginal purchase.
