Ronsard is considered one of France's greatest love poets, yet his poetic achievements are not restricted to his verses of love, wine and nature.  A true Renaissance figure, his themes ranged from politics, science and philsophy, to the bawdy and risqué.  Using Greco-Roman and Italian poetic models, and drawing on the rich images of classical mythology, Ronsard revolutionised the tradition of French poetry.   In the 20th century, Ronsard's poetry was influential for W. B. Yeats, translated by Sylvia Plath, and illustrated by Henri Matisse. Les Amours de Ronsard, version de 1552.    Les Amours de Cassandre est un recueil de poèmes en décasyllabes de Pierre de Ronsard de 1552. Ronsard fixe les règles du sonnet : deux quatrains où alternent rimes masculines et rimes féminines suivis de deux tercets dont les rimes sont disposées de manière conventionnelle.  Cassandre Salviati (1530-1607) est la fille de Bernardo Salviati, un des banquiers de François Ier. Cassandre est une jeune fille italienne rencontrée par le poète le 21 avril 1545 à Blois à un bal de la cour.  Elle n'a que quinze ans et lui vingt et un. Ronsard ne pouvait épouser la jeune fille, car il était clerc tonsuré. Cassandre épousa Jean Peigné, seigneur de Pray l'année suivante. Il fait de Cassandre son égérie, célébrant un amour tout imaginaire dans un style précieux avec comparaisons mythologiques et mignardises.
