Jesus Christ is the Provider and Theme of the New Testament! The Old Testament was an agreement or covenant between God and the Israelites. They struggled and failed to keep the Law that He gave them. Year after year they sacrificed animals. These sacrifices pointed to Jesus, the Lamb of God. His blood is the basis of a new agreement between God and mankind (Matt. 26:28). Jesus is the living theme of each of the 27 books of the New Testament. We will guide you to fix your eyes on Him as you study each of these books. In the Gospels, you will explore the world Jesus walked in. You will discover that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John each shared Jesus with a different group of readers. In Acts, you will see the risen Jesus still at work. Though He ascended to heaven, He continued to work through the Church by the Spirit. We will give you examples of miracles that the Spirit of Christ still does through the Spirit-filled Church today! In the 21 Epistles, you will learn to appreciate Jesus more than ever before. These interpret and apply the life and teachings of Christ. Photos, charts, maps, illustrations, and questions will help you understand the great themes of these letters. Finally, you will climb to the highest point of the New Testament. Survey of the New Testament

Like a two-edged sword, Scripture can help or harm. We believe that all Scripture is breathed by God-given to help us find our way (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Ps. 119:105). Still, the Word of God can be used to help or to harm. At times, God's children have used the Scriptures in bad ways, accidentally. At other times, God's enemies have twisted the Scriptures to deceive people (2 Pet. 3:16). Satan quoted Scripture, trying to lead Jesus astray (Mt. 4). Handling the Scripture rightly requires study (2 Tim. 2:15). In this course we will guide you to answer questions such as these: Why do we need principles to guide us as we interpret Scripture? What principles did Ezra, Nehemiah, Jesus, and the apostles use to interpret Scripture? What happens if we quote God's words, but miss His meaning? How many meanings does a verse in the Bible have? Are the customs of the Bible inspired? What are circles of context, and how can they help us? Why should we ask Luke what he means, before we ask Paul what Luke means? Why is it important to identify the subject of a verse? Why have many misunderstood the words Jesus spoke about His body? Is it right for believers to claim all the promises of the old covenant? Are biblical truths for all believers, in all places, at all times? How does the Holy Spirit help believers interpret and apply Scripture?

¿Quién debe tomar un curso de homilética? Homilética el estudio de preparar y predicar mensajes bíblicos? De seguro, todos los pastores, evangelistas y misioneros deben estudiar homilética. The top of a mountain is its most glorious, inspiring point. The peak of Ephesians is the doxology of 3:20-21. These verses glorify God. They shout praise to God from the mountain top—because God is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, by his power that is at work within us (Eph. 3:20). As the peak of a mountain relates to both sides, Ephesians 3:20-21 relates to the two parts of salvation. By His power at work in us, God has poured out His blessings on us—redeeming and uniting Jews and Gentiles into one body, temple, and family (Eph. 1–3). By the power of that same Spirit who works in us, God enables us to live worthy—causing us to rejoice as we obey the 35 commands of Ephesians 4–6. By His power! This is the key. So let us praise Him, and depend on the power of His Spirit for both sides of the mountain of salvation—for redemption (Eph. 1–3), and for living worthy (Eph. 4–6). For by His power at work in us, He is able to do much more than we can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20-21).
