Scott Golden killed his first man at 14, avenging his father's murder and beginning the life of a wanderer who lives by the gun. A brief encounter with Doc Holliday adds gambling to Golden's abilities and pushes him further into the life of a gunfighter.  Seeking refuge and isolation, Scott builds a small ranch in the mountains of Colorado. His peace is short lived. Jonathan Sampson and his four grown sons wrongfully claim ownership of Golden's land. He is joined by Gentry, a man whose family the Sampsons had murdered and by Anne Barber, a woman who wonders if Golden is capable of returning the love she has for him. After a terrifying confrontation with the Sampsons and a band of renegade Indians, the hunters become the hunted. Scott Golden must carry a wounded woman to safety while planning how he can once again use his abilities as a killer to save the one person in the world who is important to him.
