First published in Chile in 1981 and immediately banned by the government, this collection of love poems presents a meditative dialogue about desire as well as anger. Forming a narrative about a love where the beloved is relegated to memory alone, the poems also express a test of boundary between a nostalgic sense of order and contemporary aspects of disorder, and between the self and external relationships.

Gustav Siebenmann ha señalado que Óscar Hahn es “el gran integrador de la poesía chilena”, porque “logra una síntesis sorprendente de vanguardismo histórico y poesía docta”. Prolongando estas ideas de Siebenmann uno podría agregar que el poeta chileno une dos polos fundamentales: la aventura y el orden, como denominaba Apollinaire a estas operaciones. Si consideramos la tradición y el orden como tesis, y la ruptura o aventura como antítesis, la poesía de Hahn resulta ser en efecto la síntesis, porque fusiona estas dos nociones opuestas y en cierto modo las neutraliza. Por una parte, el poeta escribe sonetos rigurosos, acentuando en ellos un nuevo registro, una mezcla de lenguaje culto y coloquial, y por otra, con igual maestría practica el verso libre, cuya temática se dispersa entre las aguas del amor, la muerte, el esplendor y la dificultad de la palabra poética. Como tras-fondo pictórico de estos textos, el color cumple un rol integrador. En su poesía el color expresa un estado emotivo: aparece como rito de la naturaleza y la vida, como una transfiguración visionaria de la existencia. Un claro ejemplo de esta práctica es su aprecio por otros dos opuestos: la pintura clásica y la moderna.
