HANA GREENFIELD wurde in der Tschechoslowakei in Kolin geboren, wo ihre Familie und ihre Vorfahren vor dem Holocaust ansässing waren. Die einzelnen Kapitel dieses Buches wurden im Laufe von Jahren geschrieben, immer wenn Erlebnisse aus ihrer Erinnerung wiėder wachgerufen wurden. Einige dieser Artikel erschienen auch in anderen Publikationen, in den verschiedenstein Ländern, in Hebräisch, Polnisch, Franzősisch, Jiddisch, Englisch, Deutsch und Tscechisch. Die ursprűngliche Forschungsarbeit űber das Schicksal der Kinder von Bialystok wurde zum ersten Mal während der Konferenz in Oxford, England, unter dem Titel „Zukunftweisende Erinnerungen” im Jahre 1988, verőffenctlicht. Die Arbeit wurde in Deutsch vom Max Planck-Institut in dem wissenschaftlichen Blatt „Sozialwissenschaftlichen Informationen” abgedruckt und mit einem Kommentar versehen. Dieser Beitrag zur Geschichte wurde auf der ersten wissenschaftlichen Konferenz in Theresienstadt (Tsechoslowakei) i. J. 1991 vorgetragen.Hanna Greenfield ist verheiratet, Mutter dreier Kinder und hat sieben Enkelkinder. Alle leben in Jerusalem.
