Kunsthalle Krems and Museum Folkwang are presenting the painterly work of Helen Frankenthaler the great abstract expressionist and outstanding artist of the 20th century. Frankenthaler lived and worked in the epicenter of the New York School and created her groundbreaking abstract soak-stain pictures in the early 1950s, in succession of Jackson Pollock's Drip Paintings. It is considered a bridgehead between Action Painting and Color Field painting. The focus of the publication are the painterly constellations on the medias canvas and paper. Over 70 works on paper - from the late 1940s to the early 2000s - are juxtaposed with an exclusive selection of paintings from the individual phases of Frankenthaler's artistic oeuvre. Frankenthaler's work is barely represented in European museums and collections and has seldom been shown extensively in German-speaking countries. The majority of the works depicted in the catalogue come from the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation in New York, supplemented by private collections and institutions.

Tillmans' photographic explorations of human connection and tangibility in dialogue with our new virtual present 
The observation of people--their bodies, movements, relation to surroundings--lies at the core of the diverse oeuvre that German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans (born 1968) has amassed over the past three decades. Today, these haptic relations and interactions are undergoing massive shifts in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and technological change, as the necessity of social distancing and the migration of everyday life into virtual space transforms how we interact with one another. 
Wolfgang Tillmans: Sound Is Liquid reflects on the photographer's oeuvre against the backdrop of these societal developments. Accompanying an exhibition at the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig (MUMOK) in Vienna, Austria, this catalog features a wide selection of Tillmans' work from his early photographs produced in the pop-culture milieu of the 1990s to his acclaimed photographic abstractions, his high-resolution images of the globalized and digitalized reality of the early 21st century, and photos taken shortly before and during the coronavirus pandemic.

A cultural, aesthetic and biological history of wool, from ancient extraction methods to contemporary textile design 
In this volume, the Milan-based multidisciplinary design studio Formafantasma investigates the history, ecology and global dynamics of the extraction and production of wool. A wide range of artworks, agricultural and cultural objects, photographs, videos and other materials demonstrate how wool is more than simply a raw material for the design and textile industries. The book accompanies an exhibition of the same name, Oltre Terra, which reimagines the display mode of the diorama. Rather than representing a static scene from nature, here it becomes an installation containing six life-size reproductions of different sheep breeds, a carpet made from discarded wool fibers, as well as documents, films, by-products of manufacturing processes and various types of organic matter. All these elements are presented side by side to counteract persisting categorizations that separate human from animal and product from biological matter.

The second volume of Kippenberger's catalogue raisonné, featuring the lauded Architectural Pictures and the Opinion Pictures 
Volume 2 of Martin Kippenberger's (1953-97) catalogue raisonné covers the years 1983 to 1986. Over 300 paintings are illustrated in color and listed with catalog number, title, year, technique, dimensions, inscriptions, provenance, exhibitions and bibliography. A variety of sources, historical photographs, archival materials and references by Kippenberger to works of his own and by other artists complement individual entries. 
Highlights of the second volume include series and groups of works such as the I.N.P. series (1984), Architectural Pictures (1984-85) the Opinion Pictures (1985), the I (1985), the Profit and Cost Peaks (1985) and the No Problem Pictures (1986), as well as Kippenberger's extensive artistic output following his trip to Brazil. The appendix contains a chronological list of exhibitions and publications.
