The poems of Petőfi are known on a world scale, these have been translated to many languages. Nevertheless, there are more but less known poems though these are not of lesser value. The aim of this selection has been to introduce these poems and it is my opinion that the bilingual edition may be novelty to the non-Hungarian-speaking people, as well. In this selection no ordering principle prevailed (e.g. lyric, family or revolutionary etc. poems), the temporal sequence of the poems was the guiding principle. This is why that the early (1842) and late (1849) years are represented only by a few poems. I do hope that the bilingual edition facilitates to follow the thoughts in both languages. – Ottó Tomschey\nHungarian Description:<br />
Petőfi verseit világszerte ismerik, sok nyelvre lefordították. Vannak azonban kevéssé ismert művei is, amelyek semmivel sem maradnak el a közismertek mögött. E válogatásnak az a célja, hogy ezeket a verseket is közelebb hozza az olvasóhoz, a kétnyelvű kiadás pedig céljaim szerint a nem magyar ajkú közönség számára is újdonság lehet. A válogatásban nincs semmiféle rendező elv (lírai, családi, forradalmi stb. versek), egyszerűen a versek keletkezésének ideje volt a vezérlő elv. Ezért van az, hogy a legkorábbi (1842) és az utolsó (1849) éveket csak szerény számú költemény képviseli. Remélem, hogy a kétnyelvű kiadás megkönnyíti nemcsak a szavak, hanem a gondolatok mindkét nyelven történő követését. – Tomschey Ottó</p>
