The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company was founded in 1898 in Akron, Ohio. Within thirty years it became the world's largest tire company and the largest rubber manufacturer in the world. The success of the company was essentially a result of three things: its people, places, and products. These subjects are captured in the company's extensive corporate photo archives that is one of the flagship collections of The University of Akron Archival Services. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company: A Photographic History, 1898-1951 visually chronicles the rich and fascinating history of Goodyear, highlighting the products that helped make Goodyear a household name and Akron the "Rubber Capital of the World": tires that shod winning race cars in first Indy 500s; blimps that advertised the Goodyear brand; figure balloons that graced the Macy's parades; conveyors used to build the Shasta and Grand Coulee dams; and balloons and airplane components that were critical assets in both world wars. River, Reaper, Rail: Agriculture and Identity in Ohio's Mad River Valley, 1795–1885 tells the story of farmers and technology in Ohio's Champaign County and its Mad River Valley from the beginnings of white settlement in 1795 through the decades after the Civil War. This is a story of land-hungry migrants who brought a market-oriented farm ethos across the Appalachians into the Ohio Valley. There, they adapted their traditional farm practices to opportunities and big changes brought by the railroad, the mechanization of the harvesting process, and the development of state-sponsored farmer organizations. For a few decades in the middle of the 19th century, this part of America's heartland was the center of the nation geographically, agriculturally, and industrially. With the coming of the Civil War and the nation's further industrialization and westward expansion, the representative centrality of west central Ohio diminished. But the shared conviction that "we are an agricultural people" did not. This book presents their embrace of that view as a process of innovation, adjustment, challenge, and conservative acceptance spanning two or three generations.

The archaeology of the ancient American Indian Hopewell earthwork-builders of the Ohio Valley has intrigued scientists and the public alike for more than two hundred years. Since the dawn of the twenty-first century, professional inquiry into the Hopewell phenomenon has accelerated. Contemporary researchers are approaching old questions with new methods and interpretive perspectives, state-of-the-art survey technologies, and novel analytical techniques. As a result, our understanding of the Hopewell world has significantly deepened. This two-volume set presents some of the most current research on Hopewell archaeology within the Ohio Valley and beyond. 
Among the topics covered in Volume One are refined uses of geophysics, LiDAR, and aerial (drone) photography data to better interpret ritual landscapes at famous centers such as Hopewell Mound Group, Fort Ancient, and Seip. The recent excavations at the enigmatic Moorehead Circle within the Fort Ancient Earthworks provides surprising new insights about Hopewell monumental construction. Another study explores the use of unusual copper ornaments found in a unique ritual deposit at the Seip Earthworks. Elements of the Hopewell worldview are explored through archaeoastronomy and careful study of mortuary contexts.

 Hawk Parable begins with a family mystery and engages with the limits of historical knowledge―particularly of the atomic bombs the U.S. dropped at the end of the Second World War and the repercussions of atomic tests the U.S. conducted throughout the 20th century. These poems explore a space between environmental crisis and a crisis of conscience. As a lyric collection, Hawk Parable begins as a meditation on the author's grandfather's possible involvement in the Nagasaki mission and moves through poems that engage with the legacy of nuclear testing on our global environment. At times, Hawk Parable borrows language from declassified nuclear test films, survivor accounts of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, scientific studies of bird migrations through the Nevada Test Site, and the author's grandfather's letters. This book enacts what it means to encounter fragments―of historical records, family stories, and survivor accounts―through exploring a variety of forms. Unhistorical draws on historical narrative, confessional poetry, and detective fiction to tell the story of a contemporary romantic relationship that begins in Scotland and falls apart in America, as the narrator finds herself in the role of spectator to her partner's genius. Many of these poems draw from the elegiac tradition, following a speaker who is, at turns, tourist in and historian of a landscape that is foreign to them. The middle section of this manuscript, entitled "The Resurrectionists," follows an alternate version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Holmes and Watson as they journey to solve a mystery in Scotland while grappling with their own anguished friendship.
