In The Reception of Jesus in the First Three Centuries, Chris L. Keith, Helen K. Bond, Christine Jacobi and Jens Schröter, together with an international cast of more than 70 contributors, provide a methodologically sophisticated resource, showing the reception history of Jesus and the Jesus tradition in early Christianity. The three volumes focus upon the diversity of receptions of the Jesus tradition in this time period, with memory theory providing the framework for approaching the complex interactions between the past of the tradition and the present of its receptions. Rather than addressing texts specifically as canonical or non-canonical, the volumes show the more complex reality of the reception of the Jesus tradition in early Christianity. 
Core literary texts such as Gospels and other early Christian writings are discussed in detail, as well as non-literary contexts outside the gospel genre; including the Apostolic Fathers, patristic writers, traditions such as the Abgar Legend, and modifications to the gospel genre such as the Diatesseron. Evidence from material culture, such as pictographic representations of Jesus in iconography and graffiti (e.g. the staurogram and Alexamenos Graffito), as well as representations of Jesus tradition in sarcophagi and in liturgy are also included, in order to fully reflect the transmission and reception of the Jesus tradition.
Volume 1 provides an extensive introduction and, in 18 chapters, covers literary representations of Jesus in the first century, featuring gospel literature and other early Christian writings.
Volume 2 examines all the literary texts from the second and third centuries, across 40 chapters, examining both gospel writing and other texts.
Volume 3 examines visual, liturgical and non-Christian receptions of Jesus in the second and third centuries, across 24 chapters.

This book considers the distinctive ideas and expressions of Christian faith to be found in the historic Baptist churches. An outline of the history of the Baptist movement will be offered, from its British beginnings in Amsterdam in 1609, through its varied developments in Britain, Europe and North America, to its worldwide presence and diversity today, and its relationship to many other churches with apparently-similar practices (Pentecostal and 'new' churches, e.g.). Holmes draws the various threads together, noting the real diversities in the history of Baptist theology, but suggesting that in a vision of the present and urgent Lordship of Christ experienced in the local congregation, there is a thread that links most of these distinctives.

These and other similar questions are taken up in this book.Balthasar and Anxiety is a theological study of the problem of anxiety through the lens of Hans Urs von Balthasar (1910-1988), arguably one of the greatest and most prolific Catholic theologians of the 20th Century. His treatment of anxiety, borne from his friendship with the Viennese psychiatrist Rudolf Allers and with the German psychiatrist Albert Gorres, is illuminating and provocative. But as he himself admitted, his initial thoughts required further development. This study is a systematic presentation, analysis and development of Balthasar's original theology of anxiety found in his only work on the subject, Der Christ und die Angst. One of the great qualities of the Swiss theologian's approach to theology is the ability to engage diverse currents of thought, so this study is structured in dialogue with contemporary psychiatry and with some of the great thinkers on the problem of anxiety: Soren Kierkegaard, Sigmund Freud, George Bernanos, St. Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther and St. Ignatius of Loyola. Cihak's study, sufficiently rigorous yet accessible to the non-specialist, orchestrates these thinkers around the phenomenon of anxiety, anxiety's origins, its redemption by Jesus Christ and its transformation in the Christian life from initial believers to the great mystics and saints. This volume brings together experts in the study of ancient prayers and divination methods to analyse the variety of means by which human beings sought to communicate with their gods and by which the gods were seen to communicate with their worshippers. In a departure from previous scholarship, the volume brings together the study of prophecy, as an intuitive form of divination, with the study of technical methods of communication and other forms of institutionalised communication such as prayer. Such a format allows divine-human communication to be studied in both directions simultaneously: the means by which the divine communicates to human beings through divination, and the means by which human beings communicate with the divine through prayer. This new perspective on the study of divine-human-divine communication allows scholars to better appreciate the way in which communication and the relationship between heaven and earth was conceived in the ancient near East.

Torah in the New Testament is a collection of papers delivered at the Manchester-Lausanne Seminar of June 2008. This also involved contributions from the Universities of Sheffield, Geneva and the Ben Gurion University of the Negev. The purpose of the seminar was to offer some significant studies on the general topic of the Torah in the New Testament with particular reference to methodological issues, to the Jesus traditions in the Gospels, and to Paul and the Law. Two previous collections of papers from these scholarly co-operations have been published in the Library of New Testament Studies: C.M. Tuckett (ed.), Luke's Literary Achievement: Collected Essays (LNTS 116, 1995) and T. Klutz (ed.), Magic in the Biblical World: From the Road of Aaron to the Ring of Solomon (LNTS 245, 2003). This collection will be of great interest to New Testament scholars who are actively engaged in research on the relationship between early Christianity and the Jewish Torah.
