Dartmouth's Dedicated Alumni highlights the history of Dartmouth College since the years just before its founding in 1769 and the some 500 active alumni.  It outlines the history of Dartmouth's prestigious Alumni Award, and includes many images of the College, its alumni and the Hanover NH community.This book was originally published as a limited edition of 1100 copies in 2004 to provide a fresh, updated history of Dartmouth College, including events since the last book on this history published in the early 1960ties. The book was introduced at a dinner in Hanover, NH celebrating the largest gathering ever of Dartmouth's living recipients of the Dartmouth Alumni Award (DAA), December 3, 2004 to celebrate its 50th Anniversary.  This Award has been presented to poets, politicians, power-brokers, civic leaders and other successful individuals, including poet Robert Frost 1896; skiing legend Charles Proctor 1900; Basil O'Connor 1912, Founder of the March of Dimes; Nelson Rockefeller 1930, 4 time Governor of NY and US VP; noted banker Paul Paganucci 1953; and hundreds more.The book highlights US Sen and Sec of State Daniel Webster 1801; Salmon P. Chase 1826, the only person to serve as a State Gov, US Sen, Cabinet Secretary and Chief Justice - U.S. Supreme Ct; Edward Tuck 1862; financier, U.S. Consul in France, founder of Dartmouth's Tuck School;  and many more.These alumni all share a lifelong dedication to Dartmouth and embody Daniel Webster's immortal words to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1818: "It is, Sir, as I have said a small college. And yet, there are those who love it." And U.S. President Eisenhower's comment "This is what a college should be like."The book reflects Robert Frost's words "Two roads diverged in the wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by.... And that has made all the difference." Frost 1896 received the DAA in 1962. Many Dartmouth alumni take the road less traveled by and make the world a lot more interesting place for their efforts.
