The multitalented Euan Macdonald comes from all over: he was born in Edinburgh in 1965, moved to Canada with his family as a kid, then headed still further west to settle in Los Angeles as an adult. everythinghappensatonce brings together his video works, drawings and paintings influenced by all those places--its title is also the subtitle of his 1999 video Home, whose ironic, distanced approach is characteristic of the production strategies he has been employing for years. His videos find him an eyewitness to the unconscious and the casual. His drawings, despite tie-ins to the motifs and themes of his videos, preserve their autonomy as significant works of their own.

Ed Piens exuberant drawing style with images drawn from both Chinese and European sources has given new life to a traditionally formal endeavor. While Piens work calls up any number of mythic, ritualistic and actual journeys and while his images evoke suffering and deprivation, the visitor walks away from the multi-sensorial experience feeling uplifted and elated. Ed Pien has exhibited widely, notably at The Drawing Center, New York.

Publication documenting two recent bodies of work by New York-based artist Gareth Long. Untitled (Stories) is a set of lenticular prints accompanied by the book series that pivots around a disjunction between the oeuvre of J.D. Salinger and the design of his books: the original Little, Brown &amp; Co. book cover designs are a starting point for nine large-scale prints. An unfinished Gustave Flaubert novel is the central point around which the other works revolve. Bouvard and Pecuchet's Invented Desk for Copying is a suite of two-sided desk-sculptures that form the core of a related suite of projects. At the heart of both works lies a fascination with books as uniquely flexible vehicles of meaning, as complex compendia to be read, re-read and mis-read.

This first retrospective publication features an extensive look at the UK-based Canadian born artist's audiovisual installation works of the last fifteen years, and accompanies a major solo exhibition showing in both England and Canada. Richardson's works play with the idea of the hyper-real, a notion that due to our increased use of new media we can no longer distinguish from the real or the constructed. In particular she is fascinated by the way in which we connect with landscape and within her deeply layered practice she draws on devices from Hollywood science-fiction and horror, landscape painting and wildlife cinematography. The results are complex cinematic installations that present us with locations that appear real but have been subtly doctored with CGI, animation and sound to create an unsettling, otherworldly atmosphere. The lack of any physical human presence enhances the work; often making the scenarios feel like a post-apocalyptic future.
