On 25 May 2018, the Irish people voted by an overwhelming majority to repeal the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution of Ireland, and instead to add the wording, "Provision may be made by law for the regulation of termination of pregnancy." Bringing together poetry and other writing from Ireland and beyond, Rise Up & Repeal celebrates Ireland's historic choice, honours the hard work of consciousness-raising which helped to make it happen, and lets many voices speak, collectively and individually, about what this day means to them.

"I absorb the world between you and us, in me the white world reaches extinction." In this stunning collection of ambitious new work, Nisha Ramayya explores themes of ritual and rapture, orgasms, racism, shit, architecture, kinship and mimesis, clarity and myth, self and cosmos, cosmos and community, stricture and escape, dearth and syncope, translation and transmigration, Tantric metaphysics, the communion of radical alterities (lip and tooth, temple and flower), and legitimate modes of inclusion beyond the intelligible. These are powerful poems, and their power is distinctive: a power of stupefaction and clarification, like very cold water that stuns the diver down to the bone, and as it does so, puts into them an awareness of the emptiness of their own flesh. This is the sort of poetry that speaks in many voices. But it distinctively assured that these many voices are also one voice: a voice which speaks with a kind of fractal calm, an effervescent serenity, which synthesises analysis and intuition, discipline and desire. At times it accomplishes a kind of plainness and purity, an energy suggestive of utter incomparability, the equity of entirely singular entities brought into relations. These are poems that approach half in terror, half in celebration, half in excess. Layer by layer, angle by angle, gathering fragments, and gathering spaces where fragments can cohere in singular sense, this is work that seeks to re-radicalise multiplicity, and to re-enchant plenitude.

Nicky Melville's ABBODIES COLD is a hilarious, heartbreaking, and ferocious record of our times. As neoliberal technocapitalism and fascism negotiate over the finer details of Brexit, pop legends ABBA team up with problematic fave James Bond to try to make sense of it all. "Nothing is connected to everything is connected to something. My magical thinking led me to chaos magic which referenced Arthur Koestler's The Roots of Coincidence. There is no coincidence, only the illusion of coincidence. Perfect. I'd never heard of this book, but knew Koestler was into the paranormal, there's a parapsychology unit at the University of Edinburgh named after him. I've done some volunteering for it. Including a sleep experiment investigating precognition in dreams. It was weird as. Kind of worked. There was a creepy researcher who suggested he come to my flat and do experiments while I slept, if I was interested in more."

Your Body, Actually for HC There is only so much content at hand and life has become very straightforward. One option unfolds another: touch me and die. Reassuring as a sinkhole, totally. Seasons come on as a sausage restaurant, hopeful, with all its blinding trinkets and inherited imagery. No other replies needed. We are living in a post-sacred age, so it's official, nothing is sacred. It's official: leather pyjamas. Go away, thoroughly, where winds have worn deserts to a whistle, rocks shaped to a gesture. How many rugs were pulled from under us? And will we know a burning platform among all this interference, this life of soft graft.
