About the Author: Steve Alterman is a nature photographer specializing in images of North Carolina's Outer Banks, the American West, and the Hawaiian Islands. Stewart, associate professor emeritus of history, and Thomas R. Garrett '72 (M.S.Ed. '81). Stewart, who still teaches a History of Sports course at the university, wrote the text, while Garrett acquired the historical photos and conducted some of the research. The book, published by Outer Banks Press, includes a foreword by another graduate, ESPN SportsCenter anchor Jay Harris '87.

Glenn Eure (1931-2018), who owned Glenn Eure's Ghost Fleet Gallery in Nags Head, North Carolina for more than 30 years, was an immensely talented artist and an Outer Banks Legend. His first book, Glenn Eure, Artful Rogue of the Outer Banks, is a volume as rich and colorful as the man it represents. At 9 inches by 12 inches with 184 pages, it's a hardcover compendium of Glenn Eure's many genres. This substantial volume has vibrant, full-color images throughout, with the artist's iconic ink sketches on the flyleaves. The artist's wife, Pat Eure, is the book's author, and her thoughtful prose and graceful poetry elevate the book to literary status as well.
