Over 250 pages of poetry and prose depicting Life, Love and Everything Else. The contents offer a true glimpse into the mind of a poet... often the simplest things we see or go through can have a lasting impact on our resolve. There are lessons we learn from every aspect and minute of our day, etching or carving them into pages has been the writers challenge from the beginning. There are things we are supposed to do although it may take more than a few attempts to get it right. I hope these words are at least leaning in the proper direction.

In the beginning I thought I wrote because the words felt nice resting on the page. Even now, somedays I ask myself, why write? The resting well answer still swells to the top of my tongue, but there are so many newly discovered reasons also. I write for release, to find parts of myself I was hoping to lose in days gone by, I write for discovery of parts of me I’ve forgotten or yet to meet. “Gifts From Pen”, is an earlier version of myself I am glad to re know. This book was offered to display how and why I wrote. So, over time I could gage if I held my pen tighter or better. Contained are verses written between civilian and military life and back to civilian again. We use words to describe paintings hopefully my attempt of painting with words are clear and will become more definitive as time moves forward.

This being my first book it wasn’t easy to publish. When I started writing I wrote for emotional release believing I was the only one contending with the battle of being a mother of three in love with feelings for another woman. The moment I starting sharing my story, those with challenges I never knew were coming, the stories of love for her or she, the battle within I thought was only mine to fight. I was completely amazed at the support discovered in truth. Written here are my truths, the good, the bad and the reality of being me. We women are all flowers in full bloom no matter who and how we choose to love. Love like it’s the only thing that matters. Each poem placed carefully on pages is there so you will know I’m alive and loving the best I know how. Thank you for listening and reading my heart.
