It's supposed to seem like an excerpt out of a novel. The text is short, only just over a couple pages. The rest [of the book consists of] pics of me from over the [years]. Nieves

Humans takes the reader through a season of renowned graphic artist and filmmaker Mike Mills' recollections in drawings, graphics and snapshots, and concludes with a disarmingly open essay that begins "My father passed away in the fall. He had been ill for about nine months but he didn't act like a sick person. He worked more than ever, dressed stylish, had parties, wrote an essay on religion where Jesus did not die violently on the cross but peacefully of old age in the desert. He also planned his own elaborate funeral and sketched out a few memorials to himself. After he was gone I stopped working. For a long while everything was very quiet. I had been meditating on and off for several years, but I started to sit every day. Slowly, I started working again, but I found that I wasn't trying to invent images so much as document little moments that happened to me."

This 32-page artist's book by the young Hamburg-based artist and designer, Stefan Marx, features loose, sometimes dark and always savvy line drawings of things like a sunny-side-up egg, a woman's ear with a big hoop earring and a muscular bird above the caption "Strong men or losers like me." There are bright gouachey graphic works like a set of complementary two-toned human skulls and a Raymond Pettibon-esque hanging globe/disco ball/wrecking ball that bring to mind the limited edition T-shirts Marx designs for his "Lousy Livin' Company." Marx has created T-shirts and board graphics for Hessenmob and Cleptomanix Skateboards and has contributed artwork to skate and street culture exhibitions worldwide.

Stefan Marx: I'm Starting to Feel Okay

In Chronicles Vol. 2, Kim Gordon brings together some of her most personal drawings from recent years--drawings that she made for her daughter, Coko, for her nieces, for her partner Thurston Moore, and friends. This second book of Gordon's work from Nieves goes beyond the photographic glimpses of Gordon the musician, which were pictured in Chronicles Vol. 1, providing the reader access to her most intimate world. This volume features drawings, collages and paintings, most of which have never before been published.

Kim Gordon: Chronicles Vol. 2

Amsterdam-born photographer and filmmaker Ari Marcopoulos has become a familiar name to skaters and rockers (Pass the Mic), as well as to artists and scenesters (Out and About). The Cat features his work in the world of snowboarding: it is a portrait of the Norwegian boarder Terje Haakonsen, filled with years of photographs not just of "the Cat" at work but of his life, his family, his friends, his home. Haakonsen (born in 1974) is widely considered one of the most influential snowboarders of all time. He was one of the sport's early icons, and was half-pipe world champion three years in a row not long after that contest was established. This is the first book of a series of Marcopoulos portraits of subjects in the context of their home lives.

Ari Marcopoulos: The Cat: Terje Haakonsen

The self-taught American photographer and filmmaker, Peter Sutherland, is known for his insider glimpses into a host of normally cloistered contemporary subcultures like bike messengers, amateur soccer players and graffiti artists--all members of the global, ever-growing, do-it-yourself generation. In Game, Sutherland features a selection of photographs of the New York-based Chinatown Soccer Club, of which he himself is a member. Comprised of artists, designers, poets and other locals who are passionate about the sport and up for early morning games in the surreal quiet of Chinatown's normally bustling local playgrounds, this volume gives readers a quick glimpse into a very cool energetic world.

Peter Sutherland: Game

This 96-page collection is Stefan Marx's largest book to date, following on the heels of I'm Starting to Feel Okay, also by Nieves. In I Wait Here For You Forever as Long as It Takes, Marx, respected T-shirt and skateboard-graphics designer, presents a selection of personal diary drawings, paper paintings and written notes from the past two years, attempting to create a statement. Marx, who was born in Germany in 1979, speaks an effervescent and endearing (if messy) truth; so do his thumbs-up signs, furry amoebae, leaping women, tiny landscapes and bubble-type calligraphy.

Stefan Marx: I Wait Here For You Forever as Long as It Takes

An early progenitor of the artist's book genre, Warja Honegger-Lavater was born in Winterthur, Switzerland in 1913. She worked as an illustrator for the magazine Jeunesse from 1944-1958, and moved to New York shortly thereafter where she began a wonderful series of artist's books.\nThese books were published between 1962 and 1971, an exceptionally ripe time for artists to turn to the bookform, a time when the most often cited "first" artist's book also appeared, Twentysix Gasoline Stations (1962) by Ed Ruscha.\nAll of Honegger-Lavater's books were made using the accordion-fold binding. Her aesthetic has been aptly described as "very clean, very Swiss." Each book tells a story, sequentially, like traditional books, but varying from them by rarely using words. Instead she chooses a symbol to represent, for example, a character, as in the red dot standing in for Red Riding Hood in Little Red Riding Hood.\nNieves is delighted to release this previously unpublished collection of 60 ink pictograms, drawn between 1976 and 1996, originally printed individually as A2 plane prints
