A platform for the Situationist International and its members, this revolutionary magazine gave space for literary experimentation and philosophical ruminations on current events and society at large. NAE is publishing this volume as an unedited reproduction of the original, available affordably in accordance with Debord's intentions for mass distribution of the bulletin.

New Atlantis was originally published in 1627, the year after the author's death by his literary executor, speculation is that Bacon wrote his story in 1623 or 1624. In this work, Bacon portrayed a vision of the future of human discovery and knowledge, expressing his aspirations and ideals for humankind. The novel depicts the creation of a utopian land where "generosity and enlightenment, dignity and splendour, piety and public spirit" are the commonly held qualities of the inhabitants. Unlike many of his other major works, Bacon wrote "The New Atlantis" in English and then had it translated into Latin, an indication that he intended it for a wider, English-speaking audience. Nae is publishing this volume in the original English version in accordance with this intention.

The work on this book started in March 2020 with an archive of pictures acquired from previous Mountain School of Arts students, staff and faculty. The collection consists of around 2000 images taken over the last 15 years. Most of the photographs were shot with older digital or phone cameras with the addition of some analog footnotes. We consider the photographs to be documents of the many different shapes, forms and people that have taken part in the Mountain School of Arts program since its inception in 2005.
