Thunder and Avalanche are two young kittens who love to explore the forest surrounding their home  up along the western slope of the Rocky Mountains.   In this adventure, the two friends meet a host of animals who live nearby while they travel farther into the forest than they have ever been.   While exploring, they encounter magpies and crows, bears, dogs, grasshoppers, butterflies, robins, and coyotes; ducks, elk, beavers, raccoons, mountain lions, and eagles; foxes, blackbirds, pocket mice, geese, hummingbirds and chickadees.   The pair is tested during their discovery and realize they are humble prey as well as fierce predators, completing their first lesson on the Laws of Nature.
