Great Linford was the first of the existing villages within Milton Keynes to be absorbed by the new town. This volume presents the results of the extensive 1974-77 pre-development excavations of the village, its medieval earthworks, and the church. Many plans have been produced as overlays and some of the figures have been duplicated in this format allowing comparison of the village and field plans of different periods.

Report on the excavation of two sites in the Ouzel Valley; both  were settled in the Iron Age and the Saxon period. Though only a  couple of miles apart, they are on different subsoils and have  different settlement histories. The Pennyland site is the largest  early/middle Saxon site to have been excavated in the region; the  report provides a full account of the sunken huts and halls and  other features as well as of the pottery and artefacts.

Between 1971 and 1991 archaeological excavation and fieldwork was carried out in advance of the development of the newtown of Milton Keynes. This volume presents the results of 7 excavations and 5 watching briefs conducted by the Milton Keynes Archaeology Unit. These include: Bradwell Bury; Walton village earthworks; St Michael's church, Walton; Willen moat and village earthworks; Woughton village earthworks; Holy Trinity church, Little Woolstone; Simpson barn. Site reports include historical backgrounds, details of excavations, and analysis of finds.

Excavations on Medieval Sites in Milton Keynes

<p>The final Milton Keynes monograph publishes an extensive Late Iron Age and Roman settlement. The Roman phase of this complex site includes two First Century BC Pottery kilns, a well furnished cremation cemetery, corn driers and a late Roman waterlogged pit. The pit contained some well-preserved artefacts including a votive `Taranis' wheel; the first wooden representation of this Celtic goddess found in Europe. There were also traces of Early Saxon occupation on the site.</p>
