This story is loosely woven around the snap shots of one boy's questionable memory of the Summer of 1949. This is an account about what the writer and his family did. Although there were probably a thousand black kids in all of the Saginaw Schools, there were a lot fewer eleven and twelve year olds. They all lived a different life, in different families, in the same town. And yet, they all shared and lived the same kind of life. Most importantly, their families all agreed on what was right and wrong in a moral sense-whether they lived it or not. And everybody watched everybody's children in Saginaw, Michigan. The skeleton of the story is real. The fabric or fill in parts of the account is mostly fiction. So, this is going to be the writer's story. This is what he remembers and how much he loved hot dogs, hot tamales, and bar-b-que cooked on number two wash tubs in the "Summer of '49." Retiring as an automotive engineer from Ford Motor Company and moving to Las Vegas, Charlie Bothuell was faced with the freedom to do all of those things he said he would do if he didn't have to work. So he started by writing a book. His first book is a collection of stories about his childhood and family. He grew up in a small Midwestern town, Saginaw, Michigan, during the forties and fifties. Always being curious and an observer, he was often told that he was always trying to see what was on the other side of the next mountain. And after leaving his home town, he did manage to peek over a few hills.

Leroy Hill, a boy from the bottoms, was born the poorest of poor in the South long before the words "equal rights" were used in the same sentence. He faced racial profiling, job and housing discrimination, bigotry, and hatred for decades and despite it all-he joined the navy, served aboard the USS Lexington during World War II, fought in the Korean War, and had a successful career in the private sector. Leroy Hill never used his blackness as an excuse to waive his responsibilities to his God, his family, his friends or his profession. One of his sons, Anthony (Tony) Hill, became one of the youngest players to ever be drafted by the NFL. Earning a position as wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, Tony was awarded #80 on his jersey and the nickname "Thrill Hill" for his explosiveness. Tony played for the Cowboys from 1976 to 1986 and won two Super Bowl rings. His father, Leroy, acted as his manager and agent-a first ever in the NFL.

She has worked in the Fashion and Entertainment Industries and in The Performing Arts as a dancer , actress and singer in New York City.    After a personal crisis, she experienced a spiritual awakening. "These" writings came in sessions similar to "automatic writing" and are the results of that transformative time in her life.     Set on a new path of healing, she was led to new work with crystals, flower essences, herbs, healing modalities, and vegetarianism. What would follow from his work with Astaire provides a colorful and lively account into the world of such notables as Mick Jagger, Julie Christie, Bing Crosby, Muhammad Ali, Dame Edith Evans, Burt Reynolds, Telly Savalas, Sarah Churchill, Burt Bacharach and more. Hubert Doyle was born and reared in Pennsylvania's anthracite coal country in the small borough of Mount Carmel. After graduating from high school there, he served four years in the U.S. Navy. Then, on the GI Bill, he attended Temple University in Philadelphia, where he received his degree in journalism and literature. His chief claim to fame during that time, he says, is that he was "more famous" on campus than fellow student Bill Cosby. "As editor-in-chief of the university's daily newspaper, our policy was to by-line editorials as well as news stories, so every day my name was all over the paper. Cosby was then doing the coffee house circuit trying to make a name for himself." Doyle adds, "I'm obliged to admit that Bill has since surpassed me in fame and fortune." After graduation from Temple, Doyle worked in newspaper and PR-related jobs for six years, then left Philadelphia to "seek my muse" in London. It is on experiences during his six years residence there from 1968 to 1974 that this book is based. In '74 Doyle moved to Los Angeles, where he has lived ever since "writing screenplays that don't get produced." A novel he wrote about a young-at-heart pair of old-timers on a daring crusade to bring to public attention the "uglification" of the country's beauteous vistas by billboards and the like won a nation-wide competition for Best Novel conducted through Writers' Digest. It never saw publication because publishers, almost in unanimity, declared that "people don't read books about old people." Nonetheless, Ventures in the World of Celebrities, Movies & TV is in a sense the author's second venture into like territory, for the subjects of his memoir are all now "old people," or many dead. However, in these pages nearly all are young and vital and are notable talents, many household names. And, indeed, many of them are still entertaining us today some 40 or so years later.
