<p>This book is a collection of essays on the character, the origin, the history and influence of Hellenic philosophy as well as its complex global relations to other non-Hellenic philosophies of Africa, Asia, and Europe. The essays are primarily historical and philosophical studies, but they inevitably touch upon contemporary and politically sensitive issues relating to the nature of Western philosophy, understood as different from the Hellenic philosophy, and its close connections to modern technocratic science and to the theocratic religions of Christianity and Islam, which have shaped fundamentally the medieval, modern, and post-modern European mind.</p>
