Haunted Skies, Volume 8 (1980) Haunted Skies, Volume 8 (1980) is the beginning of a new era for the ground-breaking unique series, compiled by former West Midlands Police Officer John Hanson and partner Dawn Holloway, who now publish their own books under the Haunted Skies publishing banner. This volume of Haunted Skies covers the period of 1980 and is in colour. The first part, January to November 1980, includes an investigation into the mysterious death of Zygmund Adamski - a coal miner, who was found deceased at Todmorden railway yard, Police Constable Alan Godfrey's UFO sighting, Cumbrian man Mario Luisi's close encounter with a landed UFO and its occupants, and much more. The second part contains an appraisal of the UFO events which took place in Rendlesham Forest, at the end of December 1980, and includes various interviews held with both British, civilian and USAF Airmen, as to what took place. In respect of this matter the authors consulted, on many occasions, with Dot Street, Brenda Butler, and Colonel Charles Halt. In addition to this, the authors present various examples of what may well be perceived as paranormal phenomena, which is still taking place in the forest to this present day. Whether there is a connection, they cannot say. The authors point out that the majority of the information contained within their books is unlikely to be found in declassified UFO files, catalogued in the Public Records Office. They maintain the sightings obtained from personal interviews with many of the UFO witnesses [forming part of the British social history] offer a unique opportunity to evaluate the extent of what really took place, rather than relying on the hitherto annual release of low grade UFO reports, many of which were to became the target of considerable humour by the media. Despite ridicule and scepticism constantly being aimed at the subject matter, by those who claim there is very little evidence of this phenomena, evidence to the contrary is offered.

Haunted Skies, Volume 9, 1981-1986, 450 pages some in colour! Foreword by Nick Redfern In this packed Volume, covering the period 1981-1986, the authors continue their ongoing diary of UFO activity, reported over England, and present further evidence obtained during painstaking research - now in its 20th year. The Volume embraces all manner of inexplicable events which continue to haunt the skies of the UK, whatever the period of history. It contains.... 1 - Another UFO sighting over RAF Woodbridge, Suffolk, the subject of considerable discussion given in the previous Volume. 2 - A report of a landed UFO from South Yorkshire, and sightings of strange objects over Kent, are outlined, along with references to the Swindon based UFO group, Probe, headed by Ian Mryzglod, who adopted a scientific approach to their investigations during a time when many believed the opposite! 3 - UFOs seen over Top Secret Civilian Defence bunkers at Birmingham, and Power Stations. 4 - Harrowing close encounters between UFOs and motorists are outlined. They include a report from three women, who were driving home along the A5 in rural Shropshire, when they encountered a UFO, a close encounter over the M50 Motorway, in Gloucestershire, a man out fishing in Aldershot approached by aliens, three women from Kentucky, USA, tell of their chilling experience, and a couple from Hampshire tell of their roadside encounter, which left the husband with some strange marks on his body. 5 - They include their own investigation into mysterious apports of stones, which occurred over a number of years at Birmingham, West Midlands, involving the Police, who staked out the locality in a bid to catch the offender. Falls of coins and stones in other parts of the world are also outlined. 6 - Although primarily covering British UFO sightings - wherever space permits (always in short supply) - the authors include other now forgotten worldwide cases of interest, which they believe should be brought to the attention of the reader. One such incident tells of a triangular UFO, seen over Arizona; another of a UFO sighted by a Russian astronaut. 7 - The authors cover in much detail a bizarre story, involving a man (known as David Daniels) who approached a number of prominent worldwide UFO researchers, during the early 1980s. He alleged he was from the Pleiades and claimed to be able to metamorphosis from a human body to reptilian. While it is difficult to believe rationally that this could be true, the authors tell of visits made to influential people such as the head of the MOD, and The Lord Hill- Norton! Fact is stranger than fiction! These vastly improved volumes now offer the reader the opportunity to see for themselves original documents and sightings not be found in any Government files, allowing the reader to form their own conclusions as to what lies behind the phenomena.

The Volume continues with further reports of UFO activity over Great Britain for the period 1987-1988. It also includes sightings for the period 1940-1962 that have taken place in the USA, Australia New Zealand and Tasmania. In addition to this the Book outlines the valuable commitment made by the researchers themselves and their efforts to preserve what forms part of our important social history rather than relying on other dubious sources of information.

Haunted Skies Volume 10

Volume 11 contains over 750 pages with a foreword written by retired USAF Colonel Charles Halt - then the Deputy Base Commander of RAF Woodridge - during the now famous UFO incident that has attracted worldwide attention, which took place in late December 1980. Like its predecessors Volumes 8, 9, and 10, it is also in colour but is even larger in pagination, making it excellent value for money. It continues with further chronological reports of UFO activity over Great Britain, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania, for the period 1989-1990. As with the former Volumes, published by the authors, this has been painstakingly and meticulously prepared from over 20 years research. It is priced at £25, which is good value taking into consideration the earlier books (Volumes 1-6, approximately 320 pages in black and white, sold at £14.99). John Hanson and Dawn Holloway, with Brenda Butler, have accumulated a vast amount of information over the years, including material from the late Essex UFO researcher Ron West, which identifies the presence of what has become labelled as appearances of the 'Triangular UFO', sighted over Belgium and Europe towards the end of the 1980s and, on occasion, chased by Air Force Jets. They will show that previously unpublished accounts of a 'wave' of similar sightings around the Essex area are now being brought to the attention of the public, who would not have been aware of how prolific sightings were during that period. Disappointingly, recent attempts to attract the attention of the Essex newspapers and media have been unsuccessful. The authors contend than nothing should be left out, as these books form part of our social history. It is their wish, at great personal expense to themselves, that these unique books will endure and provide future historians of the UFO subject an opportunity to see exactly what took place, rather than fading from history. It also includes an examination of UFO reports covering the period of 1963-1964, including some sightings from the archives of Project Blue Book for the first time. In addition, the Volume outlines the valuable commitment made by the researchers themselves and their efforts to preserve what forms part of our important social history, rather than relying on other dubious sources of information. Unfortunately, despite their greatest efforts, the authors have been unable to secure any reviews of their work by any of the National newspapers, although having sent many books to them. The authors point out that very few of the UFO sighting reports published in the Haunted Skies books will be found in any declassified MOD files.

Haunted Skies Volume 11

A successful conference took place on the 11th July 2015, at Woodbridge Community Centre, Suffolk, United Kingdom, involving a talk by retired USAF Colonel Charles Irwin Halt (who was previously a Deputy Base Commander at RAF Woodbridge, during the 1980s) with regard to his involvement following reports of UFO activity over the airbase. Unfortunately, the publicised event, which was organised by Mr. John Hanson (publisher of the Haunted Skies series of books) together with Mrs. Brenda Butler, was overshadowed by threats of disruption posted by a number of people, who clearly felt that this lecture should not take place. Following the event, Charles Halt then asked retired UK Police Officer - John Hanson, if he would be interested in publishing a book documenting the facts from his personal perspective, rather than reported inaccuracies. John agreed, believing that it would allow him the opportunity to include other UFO sightings reported in the Suffolk (UK) area – together with some ‘classic’ British UFO encounters from other parts of the country.This would then illustrate that, contrary to the media’s perception, the airmen were not the only ones to encounter something out of the ordinary.The foreword to this book was submitted by Mr. Nick Pope, (author and lecturer of the UFO subject) who was previously an employee of the British Ministry of Defence, but now living in the United States.At the conclusion of this book is an afterword submitted by Mr. Robert Hastings (an author and UFO researcher).The book forms part of a unique series devoted to recording the social history of mysterious and bizarre events that have occurred during the 20th Century. It is enhanced by a huge number of illustrations and photographs, in colour, and includes candid opinions expressed by Nick Pope, Charles Halt, Jim Penniston and others, in order to set the record straight, despite continuing threats from those members of the UFO fraternity who had strong reservations about the publication of this book.

The Halt Perspective

The revised and updated edition of this classic title is packed with intriguing cases from the early years of the modern UFO mystery. The book contains 621 pages of numerous UFO sightings, including cases involving RAF aircrew who had spectacular mid-air encounters during the Second World War. As most Ministry of Defense UFO files from this period have not survived, this information is priceless from a research point of view, and is an insight into a fascinating period of history that was previously thought to have been lost forever. This book contains a precise chronology of British and American UFO reports, covering the period between 1939 and 1959. Also included are sightings from the First World War, 1929/1940/1943/1944/1954, and numerous reports by USAF/RAF pilots, many of whom have been interviewed personally by the authors over a 20-year period. It contains many original letters and illustrations; for example, Jessie Roestenberg’s UFO encounter in 1954, the Margaret Fry UFO case of 1955, 1956 – RAF Lakenheath UFO sighting, and so much more! The foreword is by world-renown UFO author - Timothy Good, and has comments by Nick Pope (now a personal friend), who was previously on Air desk 2a at the Ministry of Defense - in charge of  UFO reports brought to him by the public’s attention - and now a leading author of  books dedicated to the UFO subject.      

Haunted Skies -Volume 1 -1939-1959: Preserving the history of UFO research (Revised Edition One)

Haunted Skies Wiltshire is another in a series of unique books on the UFO subject, co-written by retired Police Officer John Hanson and his partner - Dawn Holloway. The couple have made many personal visits, over a period of 20 years, to interview members of the public living in the Wiltshire area, in order to preserve the history of reported UFO activity.
This volume contains approximately 1,000 images in over 700 pages - in colour and black and white. They include photographs, sketches, private letters and illustrations, many of which have not been previously published.

The boy who loved ‘The Invaders’ and went on to be a broadcaster and journalist is impressed.” Totally ignored by the media Despite the efforts of the National Newspapers not to include any references to our work over a period of now eight years, and a personal visit to the Daily Mirror in London, a few years ago, to see a journalist who promised to finally publish a reference to our work (which never came to fruition), we are determined to publish the ‘real truths’ of what took place in the last century when the UK was ‘blitzed’ by sightings of peculiar craft and their occasional occupants. Covering just six years This book covers a period of just six years - a short length of time but monumental in all manner of strange phenomena reported by the general public, often in the face of ridicule epitomising the courage of these people who had nothing to gain but much to lose by simply reporting what they had seen. In addition to some spectacular cases outlined, which include a number of UFO landings when occupants were seen, there are over 500 images of people, places, and memorabilia. Why has the subject been suppressed by journalists? Over the years we have looked at thousands of newspaper cuttings covering some of these sightings, and remain perplexed why - in the majority of cases - the reporter concerned invariably felt the need to use a bizarre ‘banner grabbing’ headline, which of course, denigrated the report. Why did hardly any of these reporters bother to conduct investigations into the background of these sightings, in order to corroborate the possibility of similar objects seen in the same locality or tracing other witnesses? Was this attitude dictated by some form of hidden agenda ensuring that, in the main, reports were unlikely to be treated seriously by the public? There is, of course, a vast difference between declassified UFO sightings, released into the public sector over the years - nearly always accompanied by considerable press interest (soon quickly forgotten) - and the reality of what exactly took place, catalogued by us. At the end of the day, it’s not about official UFO statistics, which tell us very little.
