Translated from French, this book is an account of Ottoman Armenian magnates of the 18th and 19th centuries, called Amiras, who ran the treasury, mint and armaments factories, built palaces and public buildings, and operated other monopolies. They had good relations with Ottoman Sultans and administrators and played an important role in the development of the Ottoman Armenian millet. Some of these amiras also dominated Egypt, as it broke away from the Ottoman Empire.

Max von Scheubner-Richter was the German vice-consul in Erzerum in Ottoman Turkey during the genocide of Armenians in 1915. As the representative of a major power allied to the Ottoman Turks, he was an acute observer of developments around him and had direct relations with Ottoman civil and military officials. As historical records show - most notably his own consular dispatches - Scheubner-Richter was not indifferent to the destruction of Ottoman Armenians. He took active steps to save people however he could and aired his views to the German Foreign Office. Scheubner-Richter's intimate knolwedge of the Armenian Genocide and his later role as a co-founder of the National Socialist (Nazi) Party in Germany has inevitably added fuel to assertions that the Nazis were well informed by the lessons of the Armenian Genocide, that is, organized mass murder as state policy. The present work was originally written under a German title in 1938 by Paul Leverkuehn, a personal friend and colleague of Scheubner-Richter. Both men served in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 and Leverkuehn's work was based on personal recollections, as well as German consular documents filed by Scheubner-Richter on Armenians, as well as their special mission into Persia as part of the Turko-German was effort. This translation includes an extensive introduction by Dr. Hilmar Kaiser.

The doorbell rang and a civilian dressed police officer appeared at the door of the musicologist Komitas Vartabed.The doorbells of two hundred other Constantinople Armenian citizens also rang that same night. By daybreak, the city's central jail was buzzing with the voices of a special group of individuals, now prisoners. They were Armenian physicians, poets, lawyers, university professors, political activists, editors, musicians, teachers, clergy, Armenian members of the ruling Young Turk party, the political leadership and intelligentsia of the Constantinople Armenian community.This volume is a tragic and, at times, absurdly comical first-person account of the three days which followed the staged arrest and abduction of this elite. This account is told through the English translation of 25 articles originally written in Armenian by Aram Andonian, a journalist who was one of the few survivors of those arrested. Aram Andonian describes their forced journey on foot, aboard a ship, on a train and finally on horse carts to exile to the village of Chankiri north of the capital of modern Turkey, Ankara. The unfolding of this narrative will give the reader a unique opportunity and a rare glimpse of the thoughts, emotions and fears experienced by these learned men who knew neither their destination nor their fate. Unbeknownst to these men, their abduction on April 24, 1915, and journey into exile was to launch the Armenian Genocide.These articles are enriched with photographs of the arrested victims as well as extensive endnotes featuring the biographies of those whose names are mentioned in the articles.

This work is the first probe of the Armenian Genocide in Diyarbekir province, with a focus on the cities of Diyarbekir and Mardin. The book presents a lot of information about incidents, victims and executioners. Much of the narrative also reflects the politics of 1919 and the uncertain future of Armenian survivors. The author based his account on his own observations, as well as four other key informants.

An unfinished, eighteen hundred-page work written between 1928 and 1934 in Cyprus, Oshagan's Mnatsortats (Remnants) is his magnum opus and the culmination of a series of powerful, innovative novels that have as their theme Muslim-Christian, and especially Turkish-Armenian, relations in the Ottoman Empire. Mnatsortats is a literary reconstruction of the pre-genocide world of the Armenians told through the horrific collapse of a family the Nalbandians. The author intended the novel to be divided into three parts (Part I: The Way of the Womb; Part II: The Way of Blood; Part III: Hell) but was unable to write the third part, which was to be devoted to the extermination of the Armenians, depicting the twenty-four hours during which the Armenian population of Bursa was annihilated.

This is the history of Bardizag, modern day Bahcecik, was a prosperous Armenian village in western Turkey. This book is a fascinating social, economic and political history of the village, written by one of its native sons. It was first published in Armenian in 1937 and this is its first English translation. Bahcecik was destroyed in the Armenian Genocide in 1915.

On the evening of December 28, 2011 the Turkish air force bombed a party of Kurdish smugglers consisting of mostly young boys, killing 34 people. Following this incident, Turkish authorities promised a full and fair investigation, though nothing of the sort took place. Soon Turkish politicians and military officials began a cover up and began blaming the victims. 'Frederike Geerdink, a Dutch investigative journalist based in Diyarbakir, visited Roboski and began asking questions about the incident, as well as the survivors and relatives quest for justice. She followed up her story with several visits. She soon realised she was dealing with a microcosm of Turkey s Kurdish question, as the Turkish state refused to be accountable for the killings that had taken place, expecting the issue to go away.' The Roboski incident soon became one more item in Turkey's catalog of human rights abuses, especially where its Kurdish subjects are concerned.

Ismail Besikci is a renown Turkish sociologist who specializes on Kurds in south-eastern Turkey. He has authored several important works on Kurdish social organization and the continuing plight of Kurds today. He has also been imprisoned in Turkey most of his adult life because he has spoken out on the Kurdish issue. Besikci argues that the Turkish state has been practicing a policy of genocide against Kurds over the past 90 years.\nInternational Colony Kurdistan is probably Besikci s most open critique of the present division of Kurdistan, an ethnically contiguous area (mainly) between Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria - with a Kurdish population of over 30 million people.
