Documents recent work by Bruce Nauman with essays by prominent critics A prolific artist, recognized as one of the most influential of his generation, Bruce Nauman (b. 1941, Fort Wayne, Indiana) has developed an astounding body of work, combining sculpture, video, neon, installation, and performance art, since the late 1960s. Nauman is attached to notions or ideas concerning the body and identity, the function of language, the perception of space, and the participation of spectators. He is also particularly interested in the world of dance―expression through movement. Influenced by his encounter with musician John Cage and choreographer Merce Cunningham, he began producing in 1967 a series of filmed performances in which banal, everyday gestures or simple phrases are repeated methodically. In the 1970s and 1980s, he used neon in his works, playing with words or representing sexual scenes. Nauman’s more recent pieces continue to question the ideas or concepts he has explored since the beginning of his career, adding to an exceptionally rich body of work. Originating from Oslo, Norway, the architectural and design firm Snøhetta has grown into an international practice, with offices in New York, San Francisco, Innsbruck and Singapore. Among Snøhetta's most influential architectural projects are the Oslo Opera House and their expansion of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. This volume explores Snøhetta's humanistic approach to architecture, its transdisciplinary processes and its eclectic oeuvre from 1989 to the present. The 300-page fully illustrated book -- including preliminary drawings, plans, and full-color photographs -- is published in conjunction with a major exhibition of Snøhetta's work at the DAC (Danish Architecture Centre) in Copenhagen.

My Last Pictures presents photographs from Norwegian photographer Rune Johansen (born 1957), whose beloved Hasselblad camera was stolen in 2014. The snapshots of Norwegian life captured by that camera are presented in this monograph, marking the end of an era in his career.

This book documents a unique collaboration between the artist Louise Bourgeois (1911–2010) and the architect Peter Zumthor (born 1943). The Steilneset Memorial, opened in 2011, is a monument in Vardø, Norway, commemorating the 17th-century trial and execution of 91 women for witchcraft. The brainchild of the National Tourist Routes project in Norway (a government-sponsored initiative which aims to attract visitors to remote but exceptionally beautiful locations), the Steilneset Memorial started out as a modest monument to honor the victims of the witchcraft trials, to be built on the site where the burnings originally took place. But the project, which would be Bourgeois’ last major work, grew in the hands of Zumthor and Bourgeois into two distinct, haunting structures.

Oslo’s Fornebuporten business and residential district boasts its own sculpture park, Imprints, featuring ceramic works by the Norwegian artist and musician Magne Furuholmen (born 1962).
Furuholmen has created totemic sculptures of glazed and unglazed ceramic on an incredible scale―the largest is taller than 19 feet high―and arranged them around the site, placing some in freestanding positions and installing some in granite pools. Playing with and against the sleek modern architecture of the surrounding Fornebuporten complex, the artist chose self-consciously archaic forms (like amphorae, columns and sarcophagi) and traditional materials and techniques in developing “Imprints.” The sculptures are covered with words, letters and shapes punched or pushed directly into the material surfaces. Imprints documents this amazing project.

Eyes as Big as Plates is an ongoing collaborative photography and sculpture project by Norwegian-Finnish artist duo Karoline Hjorth and Riitta Ikonen (both born 1980).
Initially a play on characters from Nordic folklore, the series has evolved into a search for the human connection to nature. Hjorth &amp; Ikonen work together throughout the process with their complementary skills (Karoline is the photographer in the duo, while Riitta works mainly with the creation of the wearable sculptures). Since 2011 the duo has collaborated with retired farmers, fishermen, zoologists, plumbers, opera singers, housewives, artists and academics. Each character inhabits the landscape in a wearable sculpture made from natural materials.
The book features portraits, field notes, essays and behind-the-scenes stories from many of the project’s 60 shoots. With international press coverage in the Huffington Post, the BBC, TIME LightBox, Life and elsewhere, plus a highly successful Kickstarter campaign attracting a large American audience, the series has developed into a project with universal appeal.
