The Fetal Right to Life Argument: Second Edition, 2020

Roe v. Wade (1973) is probably the most important Supreme Court case in the last fifty years. It has affected how the Constitution is interpreted, driven changes in laws, and continues to be a lightning rod in political debate. 
Roe v. Wade is a complex case that established a woman's right to privacy and a right to control her own body, which was good. But the Supreme Court also held that a fetus has no right to life and is not a "person" under the Constitution. That latter finding was a colossal error, an abuse of power, and an act of social activism. 
The egregious flaws in Roe can be corrected with a fetal right to life amendment to the Constitution. Although Congress has not seriously entertained this in forty years, it would still be the right thing to do. Restoring the fetal right to life would require weighing the right to an abortion against the fetal right to life. 
We should never forget that Roe was a moral travesty that established a reprehensible and barbaric practice of killing defenseless human beings. We should acknowledge the flawed legal rationale used by the Court, and correct the problem. The good parts of Roe do not have to come at the expense of the fetal right to life.

His only sister Kalli is found. Both siblings possess gifts for telekinesis. Kalli 
is seventeen and also possesses the gift of telepathy. Together with the guardians, they search for the remaining divine weapons. Along the way, they meet humans and realm creatures who give them aid. 
These friends are a part of an underground network sympathetic to the cause of the brotherhood and have faith in the Creator. The missing divine weapons are found. Sean doubts his faith and destiny but then regains his faith and confidence. They meet the Benshi (a mutilated henchman of Chaos) in battle with a champion Novah. The Benshi is defeated and redeemed. Subsequently, open war ensues on earth and the realms. The children vow to find their parents weather dead or alive.

This book is not just about me. It's about life, relationships with parents, siblings, children, and friends. It's about addictions, it's about you, and most importantly, it's about change. I will be surprised if you can't find yourself somewhere in this book. I promise you at the end of the book, life will seem easier. It's about taking back control of your life, not letting drugs, alcohol, or people have control of you. 
I am not a celebrity. I am a regular person who became addicted to drugs because I didn't have the courage or the knowledge to take charge of my life and to be positive. A large well-known medical center in the southeast took me on as a case history. I learned so much from Dr. D and Dr. Arielle Kogan and the other medical staff and want to share it with you. 
In the book, I tell what it feels like to be addicted to opioids. I talk about going through withdrawal and counseling and what happens in group therapy, and I share private counseling as well. I have changed the names of the patients, family members, and friends as not to cause embarrassment. I am not using my real name. 
I wrote the initial draft of this book forty-three years ago when everything was fresh in my mind. I put the book on the shelf, and there it lay for forty-three years, collecting dust as there was no ending, and the time was not right. Now with the opioid crisis, the time is right, and the book now has a happy and surprising ending.

Life is an adventure. Some things we can control, other experiences randomly happen. We can choose the environment, however, and the Deschutes River located in Central Oregon has had a significant impact on my life. Through poems, essays, and photographs with their captions, experiences will be shared in hopes that the reader can relate to shared feelings or vicariously enjoy a most refreshing immersion. 
Not all life's happenings are pleasant or have a happy ending. The roller coaster of life is something we all share. But we find buffers that sustain us and certainly the natural world, particularly a special river, can help keep our keel headed in the right direction. 
Even though this is a personal sharing, most of the experienced feelings are universal. Whether the reader enjoys an escape while reposed in an armchair, or is moved to make some plans to break out of the humdrum, or perhaps even finds some healing in the reading experience, my efforts will be fulfilled.
