A three-part exhibition at the Contemporary Jewish Museum (CJM), Do Not Destroy: Trees, Art, and Jewish Thought, explores the role of the tree in Jewish tradition and beyond through the lens of contemporary artists, offering fresh perspectives on ritual practice and our connection to the natural world. The exhibition catalog provides audiences with a broader understanding of both the art and the Jewish concepts featured in Do Not Destroy. In addition to images of each art work in the exhibition, the catalog includes an introductory essay by CJM curator Dara Solomon as well as contributions from Jeremy Benstein, an environmental anthropologist and deputy director of the Abraham Joshua Heschel Center for Environmental Learning and Leadership in Tel Aviv, and Mary Jane Jacob, professor of sculpture and executive director of exhibitions and exhibition studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Catalog of the exhibition "Sabbath: The 2017 Dorothy Saxe Invitational", organized by and presented at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, Nov 12, 2017¿Feb 25, 2018. The Dorothy Saxe Invitational is The CJM's longest-running commitment; endowed in Dorothy's name by her late husband George Saxe, the Invitational asks artists to make work that relates to selected Jewish ritual objects. For 2017, the eleventh iteration of the series, we have for only the second time commissioned works inspired by a Jewish idea, that of the Sabbath. Fifty-seven artists are showing three-dimensional work displayed on shelves and pedestals, filling the gallery with colorful and surprising forms.
