<p>This book covers the emerging science of green chemistry, the practice of sustainable chemistry, at a basic level. An introductory chapter on sustainability science is followed by six chapters on basic chemistry including organic chemistry and biological chemistry. The remainder of the book discusses sustainability and green chemistry based upon five spheres of the environment: (1) Hydrosphere, (2) atmosphere, (3) geosphere, (4) biosphere, and (5) anthrosphere. The last two chapters cover (1) green chemistry in combatting terrorism and (2) the "ten commandments of sustainability" along with a brief discussion of some proposed measures to enhance sustainability.</p>
