Tony Connor left school at fourteen and worked as a textile designer in Manchester for many years. He finds his poems among the affections and troubles of everyday experience rather than in the esoteric or the literary. In "Later On" F.T. Prince brings together three contrasting long poems written since 1980: "The Yuan Chen Variations", which are inspired by the Chinese T'ang Dynasty poet Po Chu-i, "His Dog and Pilgrim", an account of the legend of St Rock told from his dog's point of view, and "A Byron-Shelley Conversation". F.T. Prince's "Collected Poems" appeared in 1979.
