This 1974, 363 page paperback is described as an advanced ANSI COBOL textbook designed to be used as a text in a second term COBOL programming class. It is a sequel to "ANSI COBOL - Introduction to Computer Programming" by the same authors. It has two major emphases: Familiarizing the student with the commonly found access methods for disk and tape programming and introducing proper techniques in coding COBOL programs for efficient debugging and execution.

the best computer authors on the market. By A Customer on September 12, 1999 When i was in junior college this was the first book i read from shelly/cashman. Ever since then when i had to take different classes, i didn't want to read any other book if it wasn't from shelly/cashman. They assume that you know nothing about computers and by the end of the course you become a professional! I have never read a computer book that breaks down technical jargon into layman's terms as good as shelly/cashman does. I have read their books for the past eleven years. I have professors who say the same thing. When i was in technical college, i had friends who would copy their books even if it took hours from the copier machine. they have concluded that shelly/cashman are God given computer authors. I would someday like to meet Gary b. shelly and Thomas j. cashman. If they ever retire from writing books. the end of simplicity will come.
