Who are the people whose stories are told in this book? They are Christians who lived under Communism and decided that the cost of suffering for their faith is worth the "...glory which shall be revealed in us." (Romans 8:18) By choosing to serve God, they also chose to suffer for His sake. In essence, these people are like anyone else - they have feelings and emotions that run deep. But they had an uncommon commitment: "...they loved not their lives unto the death." (Revelation 12:11) How are they different from you and me? That depends on our level of commitment. For it was on this date that ten young Amish school girls were gunned down in their one-room school by a local father deranged by troubling events in his own life. The terrible event captured the attention of the world as it dramatically unfolded on news media cameras. It was just another Monday morning, albeit an exceptionally lovely one. The people of Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania, went about their daily lives, tending their farms and heading off to work or school. Only one man had any idea what this particular Monday would hold-one man and the God in whom he no longer believed. The author chose to tell this gripping story through the eyes of an imaginary character, Rebecca Sue, who is a fictitious compilation of the survivors of the shooting.</p>
