იასუნარი კავაბატა (14 ივნისი, 1899, — 16 აპრილი, 1972,) იაპონელი მწერალი. იაპონიის ხელოვნების აკადემიის წევრი (1953). ნობელის პრემიის ლაურეატი (1968) დაიბადა ქალაქ ოსაკაში ექიმების ოჯახში. თავდაპირველად მხატვრობაზე ოცნებობდა, მაგრამ 12 წლისამ გადაწყვიტა, მწერალი გამხდარიყო და ავტობიოგრაფიული მოთხრობის წერას შეუდგა. ნაწარმოები სახელწოდებით „თექვსმეტი წლის ბიჭის დღიური“ 1952 წელს გამოქვეყნდა. თხზულებებს აქვეყნებდა 1921-იდან. 20-იან წლებში ემხრობოდა ნეოსენსუალისტების მოდერნისტულ ჯგუფს. მისი პირველი მნიშვნელოვანი ნაწარმოებია ლირიკული მოთხრობა „იძუელი მოცეკვავე“ (1926). ჯ. ჯოისის „ულისეს“ გავლენით შექმნილ მოთხრობაში „კრისტალური ფანტაზია“ (1931) კავაბატამ მოგონებათა ფრაგმენტების საშუალებით წარმოსახა მარტოხელა ქალის ცხოვრება. მისი მოთხრობა „თოვლიანი ქვეყანა“ (1937) პოეტური ასოციაციებით ურთიერთდაკავშირებულ ნოველებს შეიცავს. კავაბატას მოთხრობას „ათასფრთიანი წერო“ (1951(თარგმნილი ქართულად — „ინტელექტი“, 2009), იაპონიის ხელოვნების აკადემიის პრემია) საფუძვლად უდევს ჩაის კულტთან დაკავშირებული ძველი იაპონიის წეს-ჩვეულება. შინაგანი ლირიზმითაა გამსჭვალული რომანები „მთის კვნესა“ (1953), „ძველი დედაქალაქი“ (1961). კავაბატას მოთხრობა „მშვიდობის ბუდე“ თარგმნილია ქართულად („საუნჯე“, 1979, N 1). კავაბატა კლასიკური ეროვნული ლიტერატურის მიმდევარია. მის შემოქმედებას ახასიათებს სწრაფვა ფსიქიკური ანალიზისკენ, ინტერესი ქვეცნობიერისადმი, აგრეთვე ნატიფი სტილი.
