Part two is from chapter 8 to chapter 12, mainly describing Xuanzangs background and the reason why he needed to obtain Buddhist scriptures. Part 3 is from chapter 13 to the last chapter, mainly depicting that on the way to the West, Xuanzang received three disciples Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing and they went through 81 times of hardships to finally obtain Buddhist scriptures and achieve Buddhahood.
