<p>First for Freedom is an historical account of the people and events surrounding the Halifax Resolves.    Nestled in the flat land of eastern North Carolina along the Halifax River, the colonial town of Halifax was one of many in which the ferment of revolution for freedom was taking place. Men and women of both like and unlike minds were making a life for themselves. They knew the shadow of war with the mother country was lengthening. And they knew the likely repercussions if they asserted their independence.   Two hundred years later we are still engaged in the continuing battle for freedom.  Our vigiliance must be eternal if we are to stay free.</p>
