<p>R.J. Watkins, D.C., PhC, FICC, DACBR, was the most well-rounded, knowledgeable and skilled chiropractor that I have personally known. I was half-way through my chiropractic education when I first met Dr. Watkins at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles.As I listened to Watkins lecture I noted that he always integrated some practical aspect of chiropractic theory and practice with his radiology presentations. His lectures were punctuated with case histories recounting amazing recoveries under chiropractic care. His technical repertoire included some of the most sophisticated lightning-fast leverage moves combined with gentle postural reflex technics. He would explain his analysis, adjustments, and results in the common terminology of the biological sciences. He clearly understood the strengths and weaknesses of the various named technique systems. It seemed he had found the common underlying mechanisms of the different approaches and their practical application, stripped of puffery, dogmatism and ego. Watkins’ approach was radically simple. In short, he seemed to be a master of the art and science of chiropractic. To me, he was the “Bruce Lee” of chiropractic! Like Lee, Watkins had penetrated the fog of tradition and identified the underlying principles of the various systems. I was determined to learn all I could from him.
