This Videoscript is a faithful transcription of the 52 half-hour episodes that comprise the Destinos television series. The script was written by a team of Hispanic writers from all parts of the Spanish-speaking world, along with the series designer, an advisory board, and Spanish-speaking consultants in the United States. The 52 episodes of the series were shot based on the script. When final editing on the series was completed, the script was adjusted for accuracy with the lines as rendered by the actors and actresses and for changes on location and in the editing process. For the individual learner or viewer, the Videoscript can serve as a reference tool: a place to "look up" particularly difficult parts of the television episodes or simply a place to verify comprehension in a reading - rather than a listening - mode.

Videoscript to Accompany Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish

DESTINOS is an innovative beginning Spanish program based on a a 26-week television series that premiered on PBS in the fall of 1992. The 52 half-hour shows of the series use the powerful appeal of a uniquely Hispanic genre--the telenovela (soap opera)--to make language and culture come alive. The situation and context of each episode introduce students to the basic structures, language functions and vocabulary groups of Spanish that are presented in most introductory- and intermediate-level Spanish courses. 
This Student Viewer’s Handbook to accompany Destinos is designed to help instructors and students use Destinos as a supplement in a wide variety of courses, at beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels of instruction. By using the Handbook, instructors and students will enjoy viewing the 52 half-hour episodes of the television series more and get more out of them.

In 1992, the Annenberg/CPB Project, WGBH, and McGraw-Hill introduced the acclaimed videocourse for Spanish, Destinos.
