This book is about Constance de Markievicz and her fight for the liberation of Ireland and the women. She was an aristocrat, a beaty, and an heiress, eldest child of Sir Henry Gore-Booth and raised on the family's vast estate of Lissadell, County Sligo in the west of Ireland. But she joined the Irish workers in the great strike of 1913, turned out with the Citizen Army in the rebellion of 1916 and with the freedom fighters of the Irish Republic in the 1920s.
