Reading Railroad had 30 2100-series T-1's on its roster; all were rebuilt between 1945 and 1947 from Class I-10sa 2-8-2 Mikados 
Southern Pacific 4274 is on a passenger special near Colfax, CA on December 1, 1957; 4274 is a Class AC-11 Cab Forward (4-8-8-2) locomotive built in 1943 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works 
Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Mail Train #7 is westbound near Red Oak, IA 
Norfolk and Western 125, a streamlined Class K-2 Mountain (4-8-2), is westbound with Mail Train #7 at Bonsack, VA

Colorado Narrow Gauge 2020 Calendar

Chartered in Pennsylvania in 1846, construction of the Pennsylvania Railroad began in 1847, and the first all-rail line reached Pittsburgh in 1852. Eventually PRR connected Chicago with Washington, D.C. Pennsylvania Railroad recalls the unique engines and trains of The Standard Railroad of the World. 
Engines and trains featured include: 
January 1968 and Class GG-1 Motor 4930 is passing the depot. The Princeton University M-U cars are visible in the background. 
General Electric demonstrator locomotives 2501 through 2504 (Model U-25B) are leaving Pittsburgh, PA with a Pennsylvania Railroad freight. 
Pennsylvania Railroad Class H-9 Consolidation 3505 (2-8-0) is waiting servicing at Camden, NJ 
Pennsylvania Railroad 8606, a 2,400 Horsepower Alco Model RSD-7, has drawn a Long Branch three-car commuter train assignment. 
Pennsylvania Railroad Class P-5a Boxcab Motor 4725 is leading a coal train at Columbia, PA

The Union Pacific pioneered transcontinental rail service. Eventually, running freight through half of America meant long consists hauled by some of the largest locomotives ever built. Reaching back to the end of the steam era, Union Pacific pictures giants ranging from mainline Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 Big Boys and Challenger 4-6-6-4s, to the Class FEF-2 4-8-4 Northern, and a remarkable T-57 4-6-0 ten-wheeler built in 1890. Steam on! 
Engines and trains featured include: 
Union Pacific 824 (Class FEF-2, a 4-8-4 Northern) is a point helper leading Mail Train #27 out of Cheyenne, WY 
Union Pacific 6237 (both are EMD Locomotives: 6237 is an SD-60M and 6038 is an SD-60) is coming through Hermosa, Wyoming 
Union Pacific 826, a Class FEF-2 Northern, has Mail Train First #6 running eastbound one mile west of Buford, WY on track #2, about 24 miles west of Cheyenne 
Union Pacific 2458 (a General Electric C30-7 followed by two EMD SD40-2's and another C30-7) leads a westbound grain train on the #3 track one mile west of Perkins, WY 
Sitting at the west end of the Cheyenne, WY yard is Union Pacific Big Boy 4014, newly arrived from Laramie, WY 
Union Pacific 7037, a 4-8-2 Mountain, is coming through Sand Creek Junction, CO with the northbound Cheyenne local (Train #57) 
UP Challengers (4-6-6-4) 3702 on the right is leaving Cheyenne for North Platte, Nebraska, while 3703 on the left is arriving with a freight that will be dispatched to the west from Cheyenne 
Union Pacific 605 is leading Train #10, the City of St. Louis, out of Los Angeles. The first two units are an American Locomotive Company PA-1 and a PB-1. The third unit is a Fairbanks-Morse Erie-built A Unit 
Union Pacific Challenger 3986 was a "war baby" built and delivered in 1943 
American Locomotive Company-built two-engine "Century Series" 5,500-horsepower Model C-855A cab unit 61 on a westbound freight 
Union Pacific 1243, a ten-wheeler (4-6-0) built by the Cooke Locomotive Works in 1890 
Union Pacific Streamliner M-10005 is on the westbound City of Denver passing by Chicago and North Western Switcher 2146 (0-6-0)

Colorado Narrow Gauge Calendar 2021 Wall

Chartered just before the Civil War, during the next three decades the tracks of the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe reached from Chicago to Los Angeles. Santa Fe s trains provided the country s most appealing passenger service and for shippers, the most innovative intermodal freight service in America. Santa Fe features classic steam and diesel locomotives working on the ATSF.

Locomotives and named trains featured include: 
Santa Fe 5021, a 5011 Class 2-10-4, is waiting a call as a point helper eastbound out of Belen, New Mexico to Mountainair on June 23, 1957. A handful of engines would close out all Santa Fe steam operations on this stretch of railroad. 5021 and its 24 classmates were war babies built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1944. 
Santa Fe 105 and two other new Super Fleet GP60M s are west-bound with the hot Train 199 at the fifth crossing of Tehachapi Creek on the south end of the long siding at Woodford, CA on August 11, 1990. 
Perhaps the most famous Santa Fe steam locomotive was the Blue Goose, number 3460. It was the first of the six members of the 3460-Class Hudson (4-6-4) constructed by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1937, and it was the only one to be streamlined. 
Santa Fe 205, an EMD SD75M is on the point of a west-bound intermodal train coming through West Doublea, AZ on April 1, 1996. Assisting it are three General Electric C44-9Ws. 
Santa Fe 542 is a variant on a Fairbanks-Morse Model H12-44. This locomotive and only two others (541 and 543) included a short hood with a steam generator. These three units were used for switching passenger cars and making up trains at Chicago s Dearborn Station. 
Santa Fe 3780, one of ten 3776-Class Northern (4-8-4) locomotives, is running light westbound down the Abo Canyon Grade near Scholle, NM on June 23, 1957. These locomotives were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1941. 3780 had the dubious distinction of being the last Santa Fe steam locomotive used in regular service in July 1957. 
Santa Fe 2925, one of 30 locomotives of the 2900-Class Northerns (4-8-4), is a point helper eastbound on the Abo Canyon Grade assisting diesels on July 1, 1956. The train has pulled up to the Mountainair, NM depot, where 2925 will be cut off and turned on the wye there. 
Santa Fe Super Fleet GP60M s 148, 110 and 118, all less than one month old, lead the Train 991 through the curves and tunnels of the Tehachapi grade, seen here at Cable, CA, several miles west of Tehachapi on August 10, 1990 with the help of a standard cab GP60. 
Santa Fe 175, an EMD FTA-FTB-FTA set, is leading a west-bound freight past the depot at Joliet, IL on September 10, 1958. Each unit was rated at 1,350 horsepower, making this a 4,050-horsepower locomotive. 
Santa Fe M-153, an EMC-Westinghouse-Pullman Motorcar delivered new in 1931, leads a trailing heavy-weight coach on Train 202 at Beaumont, TX in October 1949. 
Santa Fe 165 is in for maintenance at the Barstow, CA diesel shop on August 18, 1947. This is an EMD FTA-FTB-FTB-FTA set that was delivered for freight service in January 1945. Santa Fe needed more passenger service locomotives, so in May 1946 165 was given passenger service equipment and 90- mile-per-hour gearing, as well as a Warbonnet paint scheme, rather than the blue and yellow with which it was delivered.

Locomotives and locations pictured in the 2021 edition include: 
Union Pacific 820, a Class FEF-2 Northern, is leaving Council Bluffs, Iowa with 15-car Mail Train #5 on January 25, 1955. 820 was delivered in August 1939. There were 15 locomotives in its class, all with 80-inch-drivers, so 110 miles per hour was not a stretch for 820 and its 14 stablemates. 
Union Pacific 817 (A Class FEF-1 Northern) is leading northbound Train #57, the Denver-to-Cheyenne local, through a raging snowstorm in February 1956. 817 is making a station stop at Greeley, Colorado. 
Union Pacific Turbine 59 is emerging from the Hermosa Tunnel on March 2, 1954 with a westbound freight in tow. Turbine 59 is nearly new, delivered along with eight others in August 1953. There were ten of this class of turbines; they had a 7,200 gallons fuel supply built into the engine frame. 
Union Pacific 158, four EMD GP-9s, the third one a cabless unit, is approaching Dale, Wyoming, coming off the #3 track with a westbound freight on April 25, 1955. It will stop to let Train #9, the westbound City of St. Louis led by an E7A coming down Sherman Hill on the left pass by. 
Union Pacific 944-947B-936B is an all EMD Combination, an E9A and two E8Bs, running the eastbound 15-car Train #10, the City of St. Louis passing under the coal dock at La Salle, Colorado on May 22, 1955. 
Union Pacific 823, a Class FEF-2 Northern (FEF-2 means 4-8-4-second order) is running as a point helper assisting Big Boy 4006, the assigned road locomotive, as they pass under the Colorado and Southern Railroad with a westbound freight, heading out of Cheyenne, Wyoming on a warm June 16, 1956. 
Union Pacific 9394, two C40-8Ws and a GP40X, is leading a hot westbound intermodal train easily traveling at 70-miles-per-hour across a girder bridge at Howell, Wyoming, about seven miles west of Laramie on August 3, 1992. 
Union Pacific 7039, an MT Class Mountain (4-8-2), is coming through Sand Creek Junction, Colorado, a few miles north of Denver with Train #57, the Denver-Cheyenne local, on August 24, 1952. Purchased from Alco-Brooks for passenger service they were delivered in 1923 and used primarily west of Cheyenne. 
Union Pacific Big Boy 4015 leads an eastbound freight one mile east of Colores, Wyoming on September 17, 1958. Colores is a short siding on Main Track Number One 12 miles east of Laramie. 
One-month-old Union Pacific 8,500 h.p. Turbine 2 is pulling out of the Cheyenne, Wyoming Yard with an eastbound freight on October 26, 1958. There were 30 of these third-generation gas turbine electric designs. 
Union Pacific 3957 and 4021, a Challenger and a Big Boy respectively, are double-headed with a 59-car westbound train leaving Cheyenne, Wyoming on November 11, 1951. 
Union Pacific 430, a vintage Consolidation (2-8-0) leads two-car mixed train #79 westbound out of Genoa, Nebraska, heading to Spaulding, 44 miles away. 430 was built in 1901 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and was in continuous service until June 1958. © 2020 Tide-mark Press
