Not ready to give up this wonderful adventure, Thacker headed West. To escape the bitter cold gripping the US, she headed sown the Baja Pninsula, thinking she'd explore for a month and get warm. She stayed for almost 15 months, for she found a land and a people who appealed to her strongly. In spite of a language barrier at first, Barb grew to love her Mexican neighbors in Barrio San Ignacio, Todos Santos, where she lived in a palap. She shares some of the joys and grustrations of life in a different culture. It taught her that we are. indeed, all family.

<p>On the final leg of an odyssey which stretched for 26 months and 31,000 miles, the author and her dog, Ink, headed west through Indian lands and many National Parks: Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Crater Lake, Mt.
