This best-selling German text is based on the Natural Approach, pioneered by Tracy D. Terrell. About the Author\nTracy D. Terrell (late) received his Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin and published extensively in the area of Spanish dialectology. Professor Terrell’s publications on second-language acquisition are widely known in the United States and abroad.\nMagdalena Andrade received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine. She has taught elementary and intermediate Spanish at San Diego State, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside, where she worked as a coordinator of the Teaching Assistant program.\nJeanne Egasse received her BA and MA in Spanish Linguistics from the University of California, Irvine. She has taught foreign language methodology courses and supervised teachers in training of foreign language methodology courses and ESOL at UC Irvine. She also serves as a consultant for local schools and universities on implementing the Natural Approach in the language classroom.

He is Professor of German as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics at the Herder Institute of the University of Leipzig, Germany, and Adjunct Professor of German Studies at the University of Arizona. He is an internationally recognized authority on foreign language learning, methodology, testing, and materials design, including multimedia materials, and has taught in universities in the United States, Cuba, and Germany. He has lectured and consulted in North America, Europe, South East Asia, and the Middle East. Professor Tschirner is coauthor of Kontakte: A Communicative Approach and Assoziationen: Deutsch für die Mittelstufe and has published numerous articles, book chapters, books, and edited volumes in the field of foreign language teaching and learning. He has been a tester and tester trainer for the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview since 1989 and 1993, respectively.\nSchool affiliation was listed as the University of Iowa---Iowa City. She taught French at Wichita State University for many years, where she became coordinator for foreign language education and supervised teaching assistants. She served as president of the Kansas Foreign Language Association and was a certified tester for the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview for several years. She has given numerous presentations and workshops on second language teaching and has also taught French and second language pedagogy at Friends University (Kansas). Professor Rogers is co-author of ¡Bravo!, a Natural Approach program for teaching Spanish in secondary and middle schools.\nBetsy J. Kerr is an Associate Professor of French at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. She received her Ph.D. in French linguistics from Indiana University and has published in the areas of French syntax and pragmatics, specializing in the analysis of spoken French discourse. At the University of Minnesota, Professor Kerr (formerly Barnes) teaches courses in French language and linguistics. She also serves as advisor to the director of the Lower Division French Program, a position she has held for many years.\nBorn and raised in Marseille, Guy Spielmann (Ph.D., Vanderbilt University) is Associate Professor of French at Georgetown University. He was also Associate Director, then Director of the French School, Middlebury College.
