Sculpture Transformed incorporates 67 objects that exemplify 40 years of Schicks experimentation with form, texture, and color. Her body sculptures are most often seen in the form of large-scale head ornaments, massive ceremonial collars, cloaks, and back sculptures that seem to soar from the wearer. This hallmark exhibition highlights these acclaimed body sculptures, while taking the viewer on a voyage through a visual evolution of Schicks style. In addition to representing Schicks wearable art constructions, this spectacular retrospective will include Schicks renowned trompe loeil creations of everyday objects. These pieces vividly transform and interpret the mundane: a bracelet masquerades as a teapot while a portion of a brick sidewalk becomes a cloak; a necklace entangles the wearer in glowing threads reminiscent of a dew spangled spider web. Works in this second grouping will invite the visitor into a unique artistic sensibility that generates uniquely aesthetic connections from everyday experience.
