The Key of Necromancy is a two-volume work that attests to the continuity and changes that underwent the German magical literature through the late 17th to mid-18th century. It stands as an example of the unique techniques and spirit lists that circulated around the Holy Roman Empire that would later consolidate in what today is known as the Faustian Tradition.This text is composed of three different, previously untranslated, texts, sharing key similarities and at the same time each unique in their own way. The Nigromantisches Kunst-Buch, a text related to the Ars Goetia in technique and attributed to King Solomon, details the conjuration and entrapment of spirits into a bottle; The Experimentir Buch, a magical manual containing instructions on consecrating the Liber Spirituum.or Book of Spirits, the creation of ritual implements and pentacles; and finally Der Schlü ssel von dem Zwange der Hölle, a book pseudo-epigraphically attributed to Dr. Johannes Faust consisting on conjurations, a spirit list and unique experiments. This first volume contains an introduction which analyses the influence of alchemical literature on the Faustian grimoires and the role of the spirits in these texts. It also contains two appendices, one dealing with the mysterious Martagon of Solomon and the change of this plant's meaning and use in the magical texts; and the other with the subject of the Bond, Imprisonment of Spirits and the Triangle of Art as they relate to the present text.

The Greater Key of Solomon

The Testament of Solomon has stood the test of time and remained one of the seminole occult works of antiquity. Far predating the Lesser Keys and associated works, it dates to between the first and fifth centuries, seemingly basing part of its content on proto-judaean lore and Greek works as well. It contains, as well, an allusion to the concept, simply, "As above, so below"- one of the earlier references to such, if the earlier dating is true. It describes a host of demons encountered by King Solomon during his time spent enslaving the same, for the purposes of the building of the temple at Jerusalem. Attendant to him in his wisdom, the "Queen of the South" (presumably Egyptian) and the land of Arabia, entreating his wisdom and power to rid them of demonic forces. To any who wish to practice later works involving these same demonic entities or associated forces (such as with the Lesser Keys) this remains one of the more valuable pieces of source material; far older and potentially closer to the original story.

The Testament Of Solomon

One of the lengthier grimoires of the medieval period, the Ars Notoria, commonly referred to as the Notary Art of Solomon, promises the reader a series of orations, prayers, and invocations, which may be used to secure the favor of the christian god, enhancing the memory, eloquence, and general academic capability of the one performing such rituals. Originally its own text, based on even older sources not yet fully documented, this text is commonly wrapped up into the Lesser Keys of Solomon along with such works as the Ars Goetia- some editions of the latter omit this work. Prayers contained herein invoke not just the god of christianity, but Jesus Christ and various angelic powers as well.

The Notary Art of Solomon: Ars Notoria

The Liber Salomonis, referred to in its own composition as the Sepher Raziel, claims to be a book given directly to King Solomon by a mysterious prince and sorcerer from the East. Actually written in the Renaissance or perhaps as early as the Medieval period, it synthesizes Kabbalistic and Hermetic lore together and is divided into seven treatises. The subject matter ranges from the high occult of invocation and the names of angels and of the Judeochristian god, to herbal medicine and the creation of incense for the calling of spirits, to the categorization of twenty four beasts and stones to coincide with the hours of the day. With the entire core of the work ruled over by seven angels and seven celestial bodies, the philosophy behind its somewhat apocryphal historical content is nonetheless of extreme interest and is here presented in modernized English for the modern audience. 82 pages.

The original Clavicula Salomonis is not the text that is generally regarded as the Solomonic Key of the modern era. A short manuscript, it appears predominantly in the form of an ostensibly Catholic text dedicated to the consecration of various tools in order to conjure demonic and angelic forces and cause them to obey the will of the master conducting such ceremonies. Dated to the 16th century, it is the most notorious magickal text of all time, and forms the very core of much modern occultism, both genuine and fabricated, both now-old and modern.

The Book of Jasher (also, Yashar) or the Book of the Upright is a book of King Solomon mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. The translation "Book of the Just Man" is the traditional Greek and Latin translation, while the transliterated form "Jasher" is found in the King James Bible, 1611. There are two references to the Book of Jasher in the modern Bible. Joshua 10:13 "And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher?" 2 Samuel 1:18 "Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher."
