About the Author\nDavid Myers is the John Dirk Werkman Professor of Psychology at Hope College where he has taught for the past 30 years. David Myers' love of teaching psychology has been rewarded by students on many occasions with numerous “Outstanding Professor” awards. An award-winning researcher, Dr. Myers received the Gordon Allport Prize from Division 9 of the American Psychological Association for his work on group polarization. His scientific articles have appeared in more than two dozen journals, including Science, American Scientist, Psychological Bulletin, and Psychological Science. He has served his discipline as consulting editor to the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.\nSteven M. Smith is a Professor of Psychology and the Dean of Science at Saint Mary's University in Halifax. He completed his B.A. (Honours) at Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Psychology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Smith regularly teaches Social Behaviour, Attitudes and Persuasion, and Psychology and Law. His lectures are well received, and he has been nominated for the Saint Mary's University Student Association Faculty of Arts Teaching Award. 
He is an active researcher, and he is dedicated to applying his theoretical work to real-world concerns. His research has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation, the Nova Scotia Gaming Foundation, and a number of private organizations. His work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Law & Human Behavior, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Social Psychology and Personality Science, and Psychophysiology. 
He has lent his expertise to a number of community organizations, particularly advising on communication and social marketing issues. The 2nd Armored division, nicknamed 'Hell on Wheels', fought with distinction in World war 2 and was the first US division to reach the Elbe and to enter Berlin. elements of 2nd Armored first saw action in North Africa, landing at Casablanca on 8 November 1942, but the division as a whole did not enter combat until the invasion of Sicily. After this it trained in England for the invasion of Normandy, landing on D+3 and going into action near Carentan; it would go on to play a significant role in the Falaise Gap battles, subsequently racing across France, through Belgium and into Germany.
