Bloodoffers a disturbing yet highly realistic portrayal of terrorism through the graphic dramatization of the brutal kidnapping and torture of a politician's wife. Although the play's action focuses on the immediate circumstances of the victim and the executioner, it takes on universal parameters through Belbel's use of ambiguous circumstances and nameless characters. This play reflects on the nature of terrorism and its effects on both the individual and society as a whole.
