<p>Diese Studie zeigt das Potential einer Analyse archaologischer Fundzusammenhange: Raumliche und soziale Kontextualisierungen ermoglichen aufschlussreiche Einblicke in die komplexen materiellen Kulturen adeliger Haushalte und in die zeitgenossische Nutzung von Burgarealen. Leicht veranderbare, nicht-ortsfeste Elemente der Innenausstattung - die meist in Form archaologischer Funde uberliefert sind - stellen eine wichtige Quelle zur funktionalen Analyse von Raumen dar. Besonderes Potential fur die Untersuchung von Raumfunktionen und Ausstattungsmustern auf Adelssitzen liegt dabei in der Interpretation des Zusammenspiels architektonischer und archaologischer Spuren. Im Fokus dieser Untersuchung stehen daher aus archaologischen Fundkontexten erschliessbare Depositionsbedingungen, Gebrauchskontexte und Bezuge zu Objekten, Personen oder Raumen.</p>

English summary: The goal of this publication is to discuss, from an interdisciplinary perspective, how fortresses and castles, as constructed environments of the medieval and early modern elites, validated claims over socio-cultural concepts and behavioral practices. The studies in this work illuminate in various ways the tensions between materialized ideology, which manifested itself in building concepts, the conceptual attribution of spatial structures in graphic and literary works of art, and the written and archeological clues of how daily life was lived within these structures. At the center of the study is the perspective of the agents who acted, and interacted with other people, within these constructed spaces. Using the example of the aristocracy, this work demonstrates how buildings and dwellings functioned as a central media of social identity in historic societies. German description: Ziel der vorliegenden Publikation ist es, aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive zu diskutieren, wie Burgen und Schlösser als ""gebaute Umwelten"" mittelalterlicher und fr|hneuzeitlicher Eliten Aussagen |ber soziokulturelle Konzepte und Lebenspraktiken erlauben. Die vorliegenden Beiträge beleuchten in vielfältiger Weise das Spannungsfeld zwischen materialisierter Ideologie, die sich im Baukonzept manifestiert, konzeptioneller Zuschreibung von Raumstrukturen in bildlichen und literarischen Kunstwerken und den schriftlichen wie auch archäologischen Spuren von Lebensvollzug in gebauten Strukturen.
